My mate is interested in buying individual TB's, he would like to know where to get it done and how much it will cost. He has the money to get it done. What sort of power increase will he be expecting? Cheers

#2you cant really state a power figure as there is so many options. he could get between 150ho to over 200hp depending on how much cash he throws at it. what is the current spec of the engine?
-
#3vtr 1.6 exhaust, open foam filter. Waiting to get manifold soon. How much would he have to throw at it to get near the 200hp mark?
-
#4from a vtr on tb's up to 200bhp, talking massive wedge and possibly never passing an mot in its puff
-
#5it hought you were on about a 16v thats why i quoted them figures.
-
#6it would be cheaper and he'd get more power putting a 16v in and camming it.
-
#7oh rite no he has only got vtr 8v he doesnt wana convert it because the engine has got so low mileage. He wants to put TB's on it though, A rough estimated price? £1000? more?
-
#82.5K +. he'll need cam, ecu, tbs + fitting + mapping
-
#9no point on tbs on 8v imo...
a fully rebuilt 16v is deffo the way to go.
your not going to be getting it done cheap, the problem is tbs work best with more lairy cams, so obviously this makes it harder to pass an mot with the car.
plus with the vtr gearbox if he plans to keep that the dip out of the powerband between gear changes would be very noticeable. -
#10the power drop is the same between gears in vtr and vts as they use the same gear clusters.
-
#11as my friend ryan said you wanna leave tbs to 16v and can a vts engine.
to get a vts to 200bhp na your talking prob 5-6 grand. basically a full race engine with clutch , crank etc upgrades. will never idle and no mot.
matt to run tbs you will need a whole new ecu aswell which has to be mapped plus cams and maybe head it will be expensive which ever -

#14Ha ha i love my bodies maybe selling my car??
-
#15buy a vts or do engine conversion--maxbhp if car has to pass an mot ,when youve done all the engine mods inc cam ,4-1 ,ecu t/bodies etc will still not be up to a cammed vts with no t/bs
