rocker cover

    this week am going to replace the rubber seal around my rocker cover (vtr 90bhp) and i want to paint the cover do i need to use a high temp primer?? (do they make one) and also is hammerite ok to paint with?

    post ure advise and pics of yours if youve done it

    Hammerite will be fine, dont think you have to use hi temp primer, wouldnt hurt to use it though.

    should i just sand the rust down and ure something like krust on it??

    dont brush it on it will look shit sand it primer it an paint using normal paint

    You can either paint it or spray it mate. Probably get a better finish if you'd spray it. Hi-temp paint would be fine, but I've heard people use normal paint and it be fine. Bought mine already done from ebay, but should give you an idea on what to do:

    halfords sell the high temp paint mate was going to do mine black but that one off ebay ^^^ looks well good!

    i just used halford spray paint on mine and its fine

    off topic but does that strut brace fit fine? is it meant for a vts? i can only find them for a vts!

    also it it easy to get off the rocker cover?

    Mine came off in the end with a bit of force mate, can be a little tight at the back.

    Same as it was to get off bud, just a little force at the back and it should fit nicely.

    do i need any like instant gasket stuff or no?

    sim69er with a vtr you dont need instant gasket and pm me if you need a rubber gasket as i have a brand new citroen one bagged up that i never got round to fitting to my old vtr.

    thanks mate but i got the new one today and fitted it cost me £11
