iv bin pulled over n stopped by the police at a local meet in my area ther was a vosa van n was told 2 make my exhaust quiter n iv got 2 have it sound tested. at the mo its de-catted and i have a magnex bakbox any1 know of a decent systems i can get that not 2 loud? cheers

my car has a magnex catback with de-cat and its not load at all certainly not over the legal limit!!!!

They should have f*cked you for not having a cat as it's not road legal without. They could have had it towed away and you would have been liable for any charges!

get it sound tested at an MOT station before you change anything..

Use a dummy cat to fool any casual observers

The race can on my R6 is very loud.. I've learnt to use the clutch when passing police cars. Seems to work :d

A lot of people confuse iduction roar for exhaust noise. Combine the 2 if you have particularly loud ones and you're asking for trouble!

Get it tested first then see what the MoT station say.

Why was you pulled? if it was on tick over or just bubbling along at low rev's even a complete straight through, decated, 4branch manifold should sound dangerously loud. Hope you don't mind me asking, but was you raggin it?

Either way get it checked and take it from there mate :-)

I have a 4-1 manifold, decat, magnex ceter pipe without silencer and magnex backbox on my vts and it is very very loud, sooo raspy

no wasnt raggin it it was cuz of my front window tints n they wer pullin every1 tryin 2 stop us goin this big retail park every1 goes on a sunday nyt. yea its 2 low they cudnt see undernieth so he dint see the decat. yea but iv rang em n theyve sed if the exhaust is any louder that standard its got b changed or summat. its rasps like feck n pops. puttin the exhasuts bak 2 standard 2moz then showin em then im goin a a magnex cat bak system cuz they aint really 2 loud or a i want a dual exit 3 inch either side but leave cat n middle box on.

Could they fuck. Running a decat is not illegal. There is nothing to say it is and they couldn't have towed it away

I thought a decat was illegal as the emissions are all over the place with one fitted?

I suppose that theres no way to be sure unless the car went through an on the spot emmisions test right?

from what ive been told, 99 db is the highest the exhaust noise can be any louder and it wont pass any test. stick a sports cat on and u'll sort the emissons problem to.

Sorry If it sounded like a was pointing a finger or something, didnt mean it to come out like that. Once they have pulled you for one thing they pretty much go to town as they usual know they will find something else anyway.

If your looking for a nice dual exit system Miltex and Scorpion do them, Peco also do one but Peco's more for looks and sound rather than performance.

Not sure if anyone on here has the Dual exit Miltex but there is a REALLY nice Phase2 VTR in Wicked Red with a Dual exit Scopion and I believe he rates it quite well. Sorry I really cant remember his name :-(

i went to powerflow and had a twin exit system custom made for mine, and a new 4 branch manifold, its not too loud when im just dawdling along, but it sounds immense at full chat or when it get's bounced off the rev limiter occasionally. get a custom one, u can be unique then with your choice of tailpipes.

Pull your head out of your arse. Running a post '93 car on public roads without a cataltic converter is illegal! 99% of the time a car with no cat will fail a roadside test. VOSA inspectors will use discretion backed by the police and if they feel it is unroadworthy they CAN have it towed away and the driver is liable for any costs.

Ditto, if you have the magnex centre pipe with the silencer in it you will have no problems. Its about as quiet an aftermarket system as you can get for a saxo. What kind of induction are you runing? An open foam filter?

You would struggle to make enough noise to merit being stopped for it with the magnex kit!

Also, if your engine is in good shape then you will pass an on the spot emissions test provided you've been driving long enough for the engine to get upto runing temperature. Your emissions are at their worst when the engine is cold, this is where the cat comes in.

Campdavid - Mot tester at my work will fail any car with a de-cat pipe as the law states any car produced on or after (some date in september) 1994 must have a cat. Between 1992 and 1994 is when manufacturers started conforming to the impending policy.

Interestingly, when i was doin my college stuff, our tutot was telling us that cars in japan, do not have cats purely because most of them are driven on short distances and for that period the cat does not get a chance to warm and so pollutes more. But then again they also have laws that only let you drive your car on certain days!!

mehh my car has a de cat and twin exhaust box and is probably one of the loudest exhausts i have heard round my town lol but i have not yet been pulled over funnily enough
