rear drum removal help!

   how do you take the rear drum apart??? all i need is the outside bit taken off so that i can clean the inside!!
   
   when im drving along its seems like a squeak is coming from my brake after every revolution of the wheel!!
   
   help would be much appriciated

   remove the wheel, remove the dust cap, undo the nut(i think they are staked on iirc) and then the hub will come off. it may take a bit of force to get it off so you might need a puller tool.

   how do you remove the dust cap?? is this easily done??

   its not that easy to remove the dust cap.
   
   if you make a hole in either side of it with a screwdriver or the claw part of a hammer, then you can get it off quite easily as you can use the holes to lever it out.
   
   i just wacked the claw part of the hammer through it and pulled it off.

   you'll see what staked means when you take the dust cap off. its hard to explain, the nut has been staked in place to stop it turning basically.

    The hubs are the same as the mk3 Festa IIRC, in which case you need to know two things.
    
    1. Take the cap off with a flat end screw driver
    
    2. the passenger side one is a reverse thread
    
    3. The ones on the festa were a pain to get off, even with a 24 inch bar

    you will need a new nut because they are staked on, you will see when you remove the dust cap.
    
    i cant remember the passenger side being reverse thread but you will be able to see but looking at the thread which way it needs to be turned.

    this is a staked nut, where it has been indented. you will need to un-stake it to remove the nut.
