Vtr performance with different gearbox

  1. #1
    Hi,
Ive had a little look and couldn't find any information on this. Does anyone know or have a vtr with a shorter ratio gearbox in? Is the performance any better?
0-100 times? 0-60 ? Can anyone take a guesstimate on this?
Maybe one of the more knoledgable members, Campdavid, Sean, Scott?
Which one out of all of them would be the best for 0-100? I'm thinking the rallye?

    Nice one

I always remember soeone saying that a 1.1 box on a vtr gave it a quicker 0-60 because of closer ratios but that it spoiled top end...............

    (Correct me if im wrong)

Yer, Ive heard its quicker- but I really want to be sure before going ahead with changing the gearbox to a vts box (this is my plan anyway). If its not a noticeable gain in figures then i wont bother.

Are VTS boxes different from VTR's??? Hopefully someone with a little more product knowledge will answer this.

There is a guy on her who was a citroen tech, sure his name is chrisvts or sumit.............maybe he'll know

Yeah the vts is a short ratio and is similar to the 1.1 gearbox and rallye )rallye being the shortest), But not nesseseraly meaning better performance as the VTR only produces 90 bhp.
While the vtr gearbox is a long ratio and I think the 1.4 maybe long as-well- not sure.

no idea on difference in performance figures as i dont think anyone has timed it back to back.

1.1/vts box will give better acceleration due to shorter ratios but loose top end and cruising MPG.

1.3 Rallye box smae thing really but shorter ratios again.

Dont forget that the vts has a higher limiter as well to take advantage of the short ratios, vtr has lower limiter so you will have a lower top speed in each gear to

Cheers buddy, don't think I'll bother then. Need a mixture of good Mpg on the motorway + performance. I'll stick with what I got.

pffft, get a 1.1 box. cheap and easy to get hold of, this will speed up your 0-60 times!.
yeah you will loose top end but you wont need to do more than 110 WILL YOU?.

get a VTS box, its the same as a 1.1 but the final drive is longer so you wont lose top end
