What are these on my springs?

The plastic covers at each end? there eibach springs, do they stay on when fitted?

i've not seen them on springs before and i have changed loads over the years, at a guess i would say that there corrosion preventatives as the springs allways corrode at the top and bottom on the final curl as thats where water normally sits when its under load, its either that or something from the manufacturing process but then u would think they would have removed it. why dont u send them an email and ask them?

are they not just covers for when they get posted to people??

Yeah i thought they would be for protection but for when? When being delivered or when fitted to the car?

Just wondered if anyone else on here had the same thing?

    Ok ill email them cheers

leave them fitted, they come with eibachs to stop them rusting where the spring coils touch, rusting and flat areas on the spring make them snap eventually so the clever germans fit these so in theory you could have them fitted for at least 10 yrs without them snapping!

Could possibley be to stop the springs knocking as the suspention compresses and the coils double up on top of eachother. Thats just an idea cos ive never seen them either.

I've never seen them but makes sense if they are to protect the springs.

I think the plastic tubes are fitted to stop the spring coils grinding against each other when coil bound under compression i.e the coils sit on top of each other when compressed so the tube acts as a bearing / noise suppressor

These are now fitted, pug performance didnt want to fit them with the plastic bits as they had never seen them before even after fitting other sets of eibach springs.
