B&M Quick Shift

   Don't worry, It's not an irritating question.
   
   I fited my one today. Took me about 1 n half, 2 hours ish. After I took it for a wizz about, doing some rapid gear changes, i'd say that i'm impressed. I'd recomend it to someone who's thinking about getting one.
   
   Anyone else's opinion on them?

   Love mine, hate the stupid gear nob you have to use though... although im going to find a way to put my standard vtr one on tommorow.

   Yeah I don't like the gear nob. I had a Citroen Sport one in beforehand... Did you find it easy to fit cloud? I've had the kit over a month but i've just put it off as i'm an ameture. The only kind of problem I had was the heat shield once I removed the exhaust. Some of the nuts n bolts were so corroded they just came off when i turned them. Enough on their still to hold the heat shield on without a rattle though lol. Other than that, piece of piss no problems at all glad it's on now it's the bollocks in my opinion.

   thinkin of getting one myself just dont want the gear knob could you not just cut it of and have you seen the ones on ebay just wounderd if anyone had tryed them and if they was ok

   I ain't seen the ebay ones... Does anyone else notice on saxo's when you cain it in first gear, to change into second is a bit... long? (best word i could come up with) it dosent just fly into second gear it kinda stops in between for a bit?
   
   I found the B&M gets rid of that First to Second changes are alot better now.

   And yeah you can leave the centre consol in you just have to take it out to fit the quickshift... I'll put some pics up tomorrow, gotta go pick up the gf now

    How easy are they to fit thinking about getting one myself just wanted to know how they fit.

    you can fit them in about an hour. Even if you have no idea how to do it at first. Certainly a DIY job

    got a problem with mine though, the bolts that hold the gear stick up in place keep coming loose and the gear stick keeps falling down under the car until the gear knob hits the qucikshift unit

    you can apply it to anything with a screw thread and when it dries it stops it from undoing.

    you musy have the TAS quikshift and ive heard there a bit dodgy but they do look cool
    
    
    the b&m is the one i have which just replaces the standard gearlever and makes the gears feel much more solid than the standard lever

    few people have reported the lever has snapped over time too as all the stress is focued on the point where you screw the 2 rings to too
    
    
    needless to say i sold mine before fitting it

    Sometimes i really have to hit mine to get it in 3rd..., mate has a problem going into one of his gears as well...

    the b&m looks the same as the standard shaft peice but with a metal ball instead of the plastic one you will have sawn off and a big metal ball with b&m engraved into it as the gearknob on the top

    best quickshift ive come across so far is the one that connects to the linkage in engine bay
    
    
    2 mates had it on there saxo and 106 and it made the gears very firm and close together

    it cost me £10 plus my standard one mate so im not complaining, any ideas on how to get this sorted?

    only way i could think would be to drill the gear shaft a few mill so the little nuts go into the slight hole you have drilled
    
    
    would stop it slipping down then
    
    
    but would also weaken the shaft slightly but as long as ya only drilling like 1mm just to give it something other than the smooth surface to grip to ya should be ok mate
    
    if that fails weld the bugger on its only the bottom sleeve ya really need to worry about anyhow top ones not too important

    sorry the bring back an old thread, but is this the same quickshift everyone else has got? you mentioned a gear nob that you have to use? this one desnt have one included so am guessing that it just uses the original gearknob?

    the b&m in quiestion is different
