Uprated pads?

  1. #1
are uprated pads much better than standard pads?

got gti 6 brakes at the moment, but wanting to uprate the pads
only thing is i want black pads, not the green or red ones ive seen

    how much would they cost?
  2. #2
i have "green stuff" pads and there a lil better than standards, tbh all they realy do is reduce brake dust lol but i wanted black brakes too, so i have put greese on the outside (where u see the green parts) and... there now black with the performance of uprated pads! i have had them on for about 7 months now and the greese is still there and the pads are still fine!

    hope this helps

can you not paint the green part? thats not the actually bit that stops it is it?
  4. #4
no its not the part that does the stopping and yea i spose u could paint em, i just used greese because i had no paint at the time lol

try either black dimonad or mintex, i think they both have black pads and are supposed to be better than standard.

WOE! WOE! Green Stuff? Are you on crack????? I've found there products to be about as good as the halford own that I am currently running. There are only 2 pads that you should, in my considered oppinion, uprate to.

    1. Mintex 1144s. Great road pad. Work brilliantly from cold as well as hauling the VTS from silly speeds back to earth on ze 'ring, even when they were "cunted" after about 25k of hard use. Brilliant.

    2. I forget the name. Which doesn't help. Performance ceramic products? shit. I'll check tonight. I have no idea what they are like as a road pad but my local pug chums in germany swear by these for there excellent stopping ability and the fact they don't fall apart during the nurbo 24 hours where they campagned a GTI-6. I'll grab the make tonight, I have it noted at home on my fridge (my girlfriend fucking hates me)

i normally find if you put your gf in the car and go down some country roads shes learnt her lesson by time you stop

ive found the mintex 1144s, 40 quid exlucind vat and delivery from rally design, anywhere where i can get them cheaper?
  9. #9
Mine hasn't been in mine for ages. We always look at the two cars and take the £100 fiesta. Its just better in town. You can abandon it anywhere and if someone rams into it you'd probably not notice

well agreed, Green Stuff pads are shite! they are meant for high powered cars like skylines or evo's not for a saxo.

Mintex are spot on, im not sure if the 1144's will be the correct size your discs so you will have to make sure

only need to uprate the front, the backs do sod all. I'm still on budget standards at the back I think and 4 pots on the front

They aren't shite as such, for some cars they work, but the pad they produce for the saxo is well ropey. On one Nurburg website though it does have "I was running green stuff pads" as a crash excuse

"I thought I'd try Greenstuff pads" (FOOL!)
