Spraying Alloys

   I want to spray my alloys white.
   i was wondering how big a job it is and what id need to do a decent job myself.
   there is some bubbling on the face of the wheel.
   
   what are the steps to doing it properly.
   
   any help would be greatly appreciated

   You can do it yourself mate and personally i think it aint to hard you just gotta take ya time on it.
   
   Take the tyres off first the sand the ally down with some wet and dry then spray on a good primer 3 - 4 coats sanding in between each coat then leave to dry then the colour again 3-4 coats sanding in between each coat leave to dry then laquer if required 3-4 coats leave to dry over night and get tyres put back on your done.
   
   Or just get them powercoated white will look better and i've been qouted £40 per alloy

   not a hard job at all just time consuming if you want a good job
   
   heres a little guide
   Prep
   
   first take them off the car
   if possible take tyres off rim if not let tyre down
   give wheels a REALLY GOOD WASH
   give them a good dry
   wipe with panel wipe(thiners)
   sort bubbleing out by sanding away(start with rough paper 800 grit then finsh with really smooth pape 1200 grit)
   stotchbrite all the wheel
   wipe with pannel wipe
   if tyres are still on mask them off
   
   Primer
   
   use etching primer and give wheels about 4 light coats make sure you get it in all spokes
   leave 15-20 mins between coats
   after final coat leave a good 2 hours (depends on how thick the coats are)
   get some wet and dry 1200 grit
   wet and dry all wheels until smooth
   
   Paint
   
   apply 5-6 light coats
   leave 20 min between coats
   leave to dry for as long as possible if its a metalic colour leave 30 mins from final coat then apply laquer)
   
   if you get bits in it or runs wait till its fully dry before wet sanding them out
   
   laquer
   
   same coats as paint
   leave to dry 15 mins between coats
   leave to dry as long as possible
   re fit tyres
   re fit to car
   
   job done
