As above ive got 17" on my saxo but for them to fit properly I had to remove the wheel arch liner....is this a problem because dirt and wet is getting into the engine bay (i.e wiring). Has anyone had the same prob or know a way around it??
17" = No Wheel arch Liner....problem?????

#3mine are out front and back the only problem with the front is u get dirt spraying into the inside of ur inner wing and door near the hinges and alos on the raer if u remove them u willl need to block up the air vents in the boot or ur boot will become a dirt box lol

how about modding the arches so you only take the bits what rub on the wheels off
or make something to stop the inside of the doors getting covered in shite -

17's will only fit properly if you remove the rear arch liners, cut the bumper bracket off and bash away with a lump hammer at several random parts in the arch. As mentioned above you will also have to remove the box that vents air into the boot and either weld up the hole, or do as I've done and use expanding foam to fill it!
For the fronts you will need to get rid of the front of the arch liner (cut it off) and stick the back od the liner further back. A few short test drives and full locks later you should be able to see where the wheels rub and you can start to address these areas then!
I have 17's and to be honest in hindsight I wish I'd have stuck with 16's.
Ride is very poor over bumpy roads, and because of my front offset I have no full lock to the left!
If you are still keen to fit 17's grab a copy of the Max Power Haynes Saxo book. Tells you everything you need to do to get them to fit!

#9I now have 18's on my saxo and had 17's before so i have not had arch linings in for about 4 years now and so far no probs but like saxo180 said the max power haynes manual is very good for fitting 17's.

#11i have no liners in mine, i just get lots of shit between the wheel arch and the car body, and thru the vents in the boot. u needed to clean your can more too as it sprays mud up the sides of your car more when the roads are wet.

#12or you can cut the boot vents and weld them closed so nothing gets into the boot, i did this when i fitted 18's and i wish i had done it earlier when i had my 17's on.
