  1. #1
How much would it cost to have my car converted to have ABS brakes? Rougly i thought all phase 2 saxos had them but mine definatly doesnt! Any ideas?

Also can someone please answer this question at the bottom of that thread?

Only VTS's have then but i think it might have been an extra you could have had from the factory when buying the car new

only vts had them standard. VTRs had the option.

Dont bother with ABS its over rated

Post in the right section mate.

Only vts's came with abs as standard, vtrs it was an optional extra, not sure how easy it is to be honest.

For the effort you'd need to go to I'd flog and buy a VTS. Think it would be new struts and beam, as well as the ECU and wiring. Unsure though

Agree to a certain point. I have no ABS in my VTS now bacause it never kicked in with my brakes/tyre combination.

Now I have lesser quality tyres on I have had a few minor lock ups but nothing that can't be sorted with a bit of pumping!

You'd be better off investing in some decent tyres and making sure your current brake set up is in tip top condition!

You need to get you brake pad wear checked out and you tracking and alignment sorted!

ATS should do that for you for about 30-40 quid!

Indeed. Tyres could eb the problem too. A bigger brake setup would also help wonders. Locking up on the road with 4 pots and good tyres requires a hell of a lot of doing

ABS probably wouldn't help. Cars move natuarally under braking due to road camber but it could be an indication on excessive disc wear on one side or a sticking caliper.

Grip under braking / sliding is more to do with tyres. Korean dark horse tyre are not on a par with Yoko 048Rs for example.

I'd also check the wear on the tyres (gives an indication about tracking etc), tread depth and that you have matching tyres left to right.
