Lower 60mm or not??

  1. #1
Right booked in to have car lowered on sunday....

At first i bought 40mm springs but then seen a few pictures and decided it wasn't low enough so then swaped and had 60mm springs.
I'm in two minds what to go for....

    What do you lot think??
And plus any pics of 40mm and 60mm on vtr alloys.
  2. #2
    40mm best.

remeber the lower you go the more wear you will create on the suspension components.

and the shocks if you have not changed them wont be doing the job properly as they are not designed to be running that low all the time.
  3. #3
40 is good for handling. 60 good for looks. depends on what you are after.
  4. #4
I want it to look good .... however i dont want my car wrecking by bumper scraping etc ... i don't know how low a saxo drops at 60mm
  5. #5
    60mm wont look good.
it looks like a limpet IMO.. daft and chavvy..

40mm is a great set up to have.. if you want it sitting lower but not screwing everything up.
  6. #6
i think 50mm will be a good compromise. my vtr is 30mm at the front and 40 at the rear. you can tell if it's next to a standard vtr but if it's not next to anything then you can't tell. try looking at some of the members car pics to get an idea.
  7. #7
Please dont lower 60mm at the front. Its looks chavvy as stated, handles utter crap and whats more its dangerous as the car just slides everywhere!

But if you are going to then buy a full kit and not just springs.

IMO 40mm front about 50mm / 40mm rear looks best and handles awesome, on springs too.
  8. #8
You can't get 50mm springs can you??
  9. #9
remeber the springs should also be matched to shocks as i stated before.
and also the choice shouldnt just be about lowering by X mm.. also the stiffness of the springs etc.. as this will drastically effect day to day driving and comfort.
  10. #10
Im havin the same dilemma lol. But ive pretty much decided to go for the compromise, 50mm on an APEX kit.

Dont go 60 on springs though if your goin 60 get a kit or your ride will be uber shit and your shocks wont handle it too well.
  11. #11
gmc sell 50mm springs irc.. although theyre uber soft from what most people like. as you can get them with the grpN ax dampers, which most ppl sell the springs from,.

i honestly dont get why ppl think that a SLAMMMMMMMED car is proper cool init....

it looks totally shite and chavvy to hell.
  13. #13

as you lads and lasses know alot about saxo's, what would suit it best?

    lowered 60mm? all round?
    lowered 40mm? all round?

im not a fan of cars that are lowered too far and scrapping their undersides on the floor. but each to their own. hope you enjoy it when you get it done and get some pics up.

    go for 50mm?

40 isnt low enough all the time for some reason and 60 to low.
  22. #22
    This is her car...

  23. #23
well if u can drive wats it matter but yeah i do agree mate but i still think 40mm isnt low enough
  24. #24
this is about 40mm(best for handling people say)

and this is 60mm (not a huge difference but i like it for looks and mines down this far too)

and of course about 50mm will be good for looks and handling, no photoshop sorry, like a say mines down 60mm and i like it that way and have had no problems with handling, also once its done make sure your PAS pipe isnt rubbing on the tracking/steering arm
  25. #25
    Thanks alot

I'd made my mind up on 40mm untill uve just said that.
    Any pics of yours??
  26. #26
slammed is the best silly comment to say its chavvy to be honest. urm 50 is a good comprimise, but answering your question, dont go 60 on springs, you either have a full kit or your shocks will wear quickly. so as your going for just springs, id go down 40, but overall, personally i like the slammed look, and 60 looks perfect for saxo's.
  27. #27
old pictures yes, changed a lot since this but still the same height ok

    (very old picture, horrid tints)

  28. #28
Well mines on standard shocks an down 60mm an nothing wrong with my shocks. Untill they break why change them??

mines been down 0n 60mm pi springs for 3 years and have had no problems mate, i know i will have to eventially change them, but when i do im gonna go for some coilovers

It's going to go 40mm I reckon lads.

She has to take parents out sometimes, take mates college and go over some HUGE ass speed humps. She only works part time and replacing stuff isnt what she needs. I think 40mm for the practical side of things on a girl who isnt serious about shows?
  31. #31
true true mate, i think 40 is a good all round height, and puts less strain on components, plus the pas pipe shouldnt rub this far down
