Been thinking about doing this for a while now striping the interior out and having Buckets and harnesses with cage in but wanted to know if with all this its all MOT compliant as i use the car for work so need to to pass an mot its prob a silly question but i want to know anyways for peace of mind.

#2the harness and buckets shouldnt be a problem
not sure on the rear belt situation though as its registered as a 5 seater so would need 5 belts -
#3Oh right anyone else know about this???
-
#4mmm sketchy since you wont have rear seats neway.
I got picked up on having the middle seatbelt & buckle tucked under the seat, noone really goes in the back anyway and certainly never 3 people. But i had to have it visible for the test. -
#5My mate has it done in his RST and thats coming up to to due an MOT so would be good to know what about leaving the seat belts in?
-
#6id mabe go ask your mot station just to make sure
-
#7its not a problem. it will all pass an MOT as long as the buckets and harnesses are bolted in properly and are safe.
if you dont have a rear seat then they wont check the rear belts, they dont have to be there at all.
its the same with the spare wheel, if its not there then they wont check it but if it is there then it needs to have a legal tyre on it. -
#8Wicked all coming out then this weekend might take the spare tyre out as well. it all counts lol.
-
#9Good advice, sich the mots have changed its made it more or less the same no matter where you take your car but sometime someone will pass a car another place will fail, well worth 10mins out of your day to just have a chat with the mot station
Yep its the way forward mate, even with just the rear seats and parcel shelf out it totally transforms the way the car looks. I personally fink the car pulls abit better too maybe my imagination but I really do. Taking the spare wheel out will def free up abit of weight aswell.Quote:Wicked all coming out then this weekend might take the spare tyre out as well. it all counts lol.
Took about 30mins to take all my stuff out and give the floor a polish too
-
#10Oh forgot, gives the exhaust a really different note hearing it throught the floor as well.
-
#11Ive got my middle belt tucked underneath and mine passed fine lol, they never mentioned it.Quote:I got picked up on having the middle seatbelt & buckle tucked under the seat, noone really goes in the back anyway and certainly never 3 people. But i had to have it visible for the test.
Theyre weird with some things though, I heard that if you have fog lights on your car then they must work. But if your meant to have fog lights and you remove them then its fine lol, its strange. -
#12Just spoken to someone who has tjhis done and passed an mot if you dont have any seat belts in the rear and no seat its fine but if any bit of the seat belts are in it will fail so need to clear it all out.
-
#13Good bit of advice, too note - 'If its There, It must Work' goes for fog lights, seatbelts the worxQuote:Just spoken to someone who has tjhis done and passed an mot if you dont have any seat belts in the rear and no seat its fine but if any bit of the seat belts are in it will fail so need to clear it all out.
Well worth remembering that if you intend to strip out your interior.
Gona have another go at gettin my rear seatbelts out as I try'd last Friday nite but couldnt find a driver small enought to fit in the hole to remove all the support that covers the courner rear seatbelt mountings and supports the parcel shelf - which Id already removed
-
#14i agree i stripped my rear the other day and it does eem to pull a bit better and definately is a change in sound from the exhaust
-
#15I'm looking forward to doing mine this weekend weather permitting like.
-
#16Well like I said, Ive got this far but the two side panels hiding the courner rear seatbelt mountings coulnt come out as all my drivers where too big and I got one stuck inthe hole and it took me 15mis to get it out!
Hmmmm, too big for the hole again But thats another story :-P
-
#17looks good mate cant wait to do mine
-
#18I took my car to a merc garage for its MOT (half price offer thing they were running) Ive got buckets, harnesses and totally stripped back.
MOT adive notes said "Rear seats missing, situation requires attention"
LMAO -
#19once my cage has been de rusted ill sort pics
-
#21I passed my Mot just before xmas with only the front seats and dashboard they didnt care about missing seatbelts.
Emissions was the main beef, the bastards! -
#22Wicked least i know it should pass.
-
#23ive been wondering about this, some good advice here let the stripping commence
