has any one got them on their car and where can i get some from also is it easy to fit them
bonnet lifters
-
#1
-
#2like these or simular
-
#3havent seena saxo yet with them on
you will need to weld them onto the bonnet and wing
theres been a few threads about these but dont think anyones done it yet -
#4they look like the ones from the boot
-
#5yeah there called hydraulic lifters
-
#6I know I keep mentioning it but I'm sure I read somewhere that they cant be fitted to a saxo due to the strength of the wings or something.
-
#7the gas struts kick out alot of pressure, so im sure sum kinda renforcement will be needed on the wings, like a thicker plate welder on where the strut is mounted
-
#8well knowing how crap saxos are in crashes, im sure that if you had any form of hydraulic lifter for the bonet on the wing, it would make the car fold inwards lol,
Just kidding, i really want a set of these too, hopefully some boffin will give us an answer and a result of where this can be done
COME ON BOFFINS! -
#9u can soon do it as long as u weld a suport plate on the wing so it gives it sum strength
-
#10couldnt u get some universal ones with the screw in type ends and then fit them

iirc the 106 ones are 70cm in length extended so if u get a simular size should be ok -
#11Just bought my self a 106 pair so they should look good
-
#12did u get the brackets with them to weld on?
-
#13No how will i fix them seemed a cheap price 2 me
-
#14they need the ball ends on the wing and bonnet which are on 106 gti's but there fixed on aparently so u have to cut them off and weld them on a saxo from what i have read
-
#15or get some ball ended bolts from somewhere for them to clip onto, something like this but threaded
-
#16I have two sets off these now. Im thinking about how im going to do it
-
#17Where would you get the ball end joints from
-
#18

find out how big the ball needs to be e.g 8mm and order accordingly at the link below. let us know the sizes for future reference
http://www.sgs-engineering.com/gas-s.../ball-stud.php -
#19Which size.lol
-
#20measure the sie of the hole where the ball goes in
-
#21Inside or across the opening. Im poo with this stuff
-
#22this pic might help, u need to measure "D" on the bonnet lifter and then order a ball nut with the same measurement

-
#23cool man repped
-
#24cheers, let me know the measurement u get so others can know for in the future
-
#25i know i already got some from the bootlids ive been keeping
-
#26Damn non on ebay.
-
#27go to a pug scrappy, all 106 models have them i think, my zest 2 had a set... altho i think the saxo mk 2 bonnet is heavier than the 106s and i heard the wings arnt as strong...
