Mods to my saxo vts

    Hi people i have just aquired a vts on sat the car has already got a 4-2-1 manifold with de-cat and magnex box on it, also k&n filter but is a bit naffed really and i bought new kit a simota one of ebay just waitin for delivery. What else could i do to it and also would anyone have a rough idea of what bhp my will be putting at moment with these mods. i just need some help and advice and am a newbiw thanks ant

    breathing mods dont expect the world to end.

    you wont see much bhp gain 5-10 max imo.

    your next step should be to think about how much you want to go engine wise. cams, boost, TBs, headwork, standalone etc...

    you shouldnt overlook the suspension and deffinately the brakes.. good brakes are worth alot more than lots of power imo

    sorry it is lowered mate by 80mm na dbrakes have been uprated too on it so wat bhp will it be then u reckon somone said to me should be about 138bhp at moment?? i raced an ibiza 1.8t killed it, astra sri 2.0t kept up till 90, and civic type r kept till 85. Side by side i mean. This man down my road says its been cammed he reckons the way it ticks over?? i dont know im new to the scene co its all circles to me. And my mate has got a 03 vts decat, induction and chipped rolin roaded at 153bhp. But mine beats him any idea if mine is cammed what bhp very roughly anyone??

    erm firstly thats a complete cunt to read. not that its an essay just shite english.
    racing other cars doesnt mean yours is faster lol! an ibiza cupra R driven correctly you would not kill.
    138 from breathing mods is laughable, do they read max power and just add numbers together?? 5bhp induction kit + 10bhp exhaust etc...

    a cammed car would have a rough idle if the cams are lairy enough, it would chug as to speak from the duration of the cams opening the valves at set intervals.

    also your mate to be running 153bph from those mods is hopeful, methinx the rolling road is a tad wrong.

    it wasnt a cupra r a ibiza 1.8 t 20v and i did kill it i only wanted some advice that all
    well any rough idea cos i think mine is defo cammed the lad i bought it off didnt know about manifold or backbox and i only paid £900 for it mint cond full history 78k miles full mot so im only asking

    also i raced my mates brother in a audi a3 1.8t decated remapped and killed him and he can race proper so i aint bullshittin i am only sayin.
    And its only advice if anyone can give me rough idea of mods to do and prices on the items just a rough guide

    a rolling road isnt allways correct.
    they can have inaccurate rollers, and run it in the wrong gear. this is usually the case.
    to get to 150bhp he will have cams, i have never seen anyone hit 150+ from breathing mods and a chip!

    as i said about cams in earlier comment.
    you cant tell from an internet forum imo. you need to get into the engine and take it appart to know for sure. a decent tuner could tell quite easily though without doing this.

    and what u say about cams is exactly what mine is doing mate nd the man from down my road is sayin that it is and he has tuned his car himself being a mechanic.
    i know racing aint big i just wanted to try as never had oppurtunity own a saxo and im quite amazed actually.
    Can u help me out or not on some mods and price and rough gains??

    Can you trace all the previous owners? and confirm maybe?

    It might be easier than trying to second guess the aftermarket additions on the paxo. If it IS cammed, try to establish where it has been mapped too.

    if you have cams there isnt really much point changing stuff there unless you want to rip the engine to shreds and start again.

    if you have lairy cams you could go for throttle bodies.

    if the cams are mad you cant boost the engine as boosted engines dont react well to uber mad cams.

    you need to find out what you have before thinking about what next.

    as said before decent suspension and brakes.

    something like GrpN dampers and faulkner springs and a set of 4 pots

    oh yeah sirry mate i just got drifited away to give idea ill get it checked out tomoro from mechanic is putting the second fan better for the engine as i have one which is gonna get done tomoro and also is the irdium plugs any good??
    ill see what i can find so if its cammed basically just leave it or get it remapped proper incase it aint

    Spark plugs are spark plugs tbh. if they are the same price then go for the Iridy's. Doubt you'll need a second fan unless you're experiencing cooling probs, but even then that'll be related to something else. besides winter cools sufficiently anyways

    If it cammed n mapped, I'd leave it. pretty quick as it is. And insurance might see to the rest of your spare cash in premium boosting.

    yeah suppose u have point no i dont think that its been mapped that is what im sayin really i was thinking if u have cams if it has been which i am 95% it has will it need remapping or chipping to give its optimum power or whatever ??

    CHIPPING! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    a chip is not good!

    if running cams you need a remap a chip is about as useful as a 10 inch cock in a room full of lesbians.

    According to the copious amount of vids on my comp that would suggest that a chip is extremely useful...
