ok, a mate of mine has challenged my to a track day in his 306 2.0 xsi and im wondering if i'll stand much of a chance against him in my VTR, before i agree then end up getting humiliated!

my mods are Full cat back exhaust, Pipercross Viper, Soon to have 4-2-1 raceland manifold, OMP upper strut brace, lowered 35mm all round, 15's with 195/45's what are my chances of doing him, on straights? corners? etc!

not sure what his car does 0-60 in or 30-70, etc but its laying down about 137bhp and its completely standard!

    strip everything out of yours

    service it

all might depend on driver to

if i stripped it all out, and serviced it, then what do we think! Im not being big headed, but i think im a better driver, and i have more experience! but i know its going to be close, i think he's the type that would bottle it going into corners fast!

iv never driven a 306 so not sure try it and find out

id probley say he would win tho

will still be a good day for you so do it anyway

whats your mate done to the pug?

like paul said get it totally stripped out and service it that'll help it a little also get a set of gti-6 or 206 gti brakes on then you can brake later for corners which will help you a little bit

where is the track day at?if its a twisty track that hasnt got many straights then i'd say you should have a chance

Ive noticed loads of people are running 15" wheels with 195/45's on them. This has a slightly bigger circumference than a standard saxo tyre, meaning it takes more effort for your engine to accelerate your car. If you are able to fit 195/40/15's on the front end, you will get better acceleration, although this is a trade off, as you will have a slightly reduced top end speed.

The 306 will handle just as well through the corners as they handle really well, it should be a good contest, are they 2.0 8v?

yeah it is, could be close, the brakes could be deciding factor
  13. #13
brakes are standard apart from my deilled and grooved discs, which do naff all! lol

lol mate this will be close...moneys on him though coz of the extra torque of the 2.0ltr beast...if you had an 'S' you`d not have to worry

Get the manifold fitted, de-cat it (if poss), add a can of that nitrous stuff you add to your fuel, you "should" be able to keep up but it is a 2.0lt...

PS:Where you getting your manifold fitted, mine is in the car along with a complete de-cat zorst waiting to be fitted
