Spraying bolts?

  1. #1
Wanting to spray my wheel bolts, includng some locking ones which i will mask off the groove in the head.

What im wondering is can I use plain and simple grey primer and matt black paint from halfrauds as i still have some in ze garage

    cheers

I would have thought so bud, but you'll have to laquer them too... and be really careful when putting the nuts back on as im sure they would chip really easily...

yeah plenty of laquer and be carefull as the paint will crack and flake if to heavy handed with them. the ultimate way would be powdercoat as a mate of mine got his inlet manifold and bolts all done on his punto gt and the finish was amazing and the bolts did not flake or crack

    yeah just like you say

id leave to dry as long as possible and a few coats on to

when putting on car put some tape in your socket to stop damage

you would have to paint them every time you took them off as im very certain the paint will crack, i used hammerite on mine and they keep flaking away everytime the wheels are off

yeh cant see why you should do somat like that pointless really my mate did it on his saxo and they looked crap lol.....

this is what wanted to do with my bolts. I wanna spray paint them silver or grey kind of colour. Can someone tell me the exact type of paint to buy please!

Ben_saxo: was just thinking about the paint scratching really easily... why not just buy some of the bolt covers? as seen is rushy's progress thread in the saxo photos section? then they will stay whatever colour you want, and look a whole lot neater!

I think it would be much easier to spray some wheel nut covers!

I ordered some earlier this week for the same reason. I asked about
spraying the bolts but it will be much more simple and practical to do
    the covers instead!

Cheers for the input people. I was worried about the cracking, the reason i want it done Dj is cus ive got gunmetal rims and the bolts are rusty so they look gay lol. Will have a look through rushys thread for these covers

hehe i just threw on Hammerite on mine, when i put them on they where still sticky, and now they have flaked from when it got serviced lol
  12. #12
    small guide could be usefull
  13. #13
i just used a thin artist brush for mine, hammerite smooths out anyway so you dont have to worry about it not being neat

    I reckon these are the way forward like rushys got;

Dont have to jack up the car and take the bolts off etc, lazy mans option.

as steve said, powder coating or anodising would be a better idea
  16. #16
Yea those are the same ones buddy!
  17. #17
As it says to measure your own and im too lazy to go out there and do it right now, they are right sayin the bolts are 19mm yeah?
  18. #18
They are 19mm. I bought them exact same bolts from that ebay seller; they fitted and protruding out cos the depth was too much. What a waste of money!
  19. #19
    haha.knew you would eventually mate
  20. #20
lol wish i did em before i wacked em on! After readin Micks post not so sure ont he cap things
  21. #21
    Why whats wrong with em?
  22. #22
Im not sure if they will look any good on VTR rims mate, they look good on yours but the nut grooves are quite deep into the rim, theyre no in the VTR ones. Dont wanna buy em if theyre too long

These caps wont fit on locking bolts either will they? Just fitted some n they have round heads.

How much would power coatin for 16 bolts be you reckon, 30 quid?
