hoping to get an induction kit on the cheap pretty soon, only problem is that its an open filter so it will suck in hot air. has anyone made there own heat shield and if so what did you do? its for a mk2 vtr if that helps. cheers

#2if it on the cheap go for a panel. i remember when i had a open filter and would try and make things for it. in the end just made loads of cold air feeds. you could try take it further away from manifold.

#3could try to put it behind the headlight and then that will be away from the hottest part of the engine

#4like mark said man try to move it you can buy converter pipes from demon tweeks and stuff a good idea i did on my old car is try to get it next to the rad so all that cold air from the front gets sucked staright in but as its on the front getting battered by good ole english weather you will need to clean it every few months or so

#5its a foam filter but can i use pipercross air flter cleaner as that is foam too??

#6take a look on www.espdesign.co.uk in the airfilter section they sell heat sheilds. They also sell silicone hoses and polished tubing to fabricate your own induction kit.
Behind the offside headlight will be the coolest area under the bonnet as cold air comes in round the headlight. But dont forget a cold air feed as any air filter is only as good as its supply of cold air.
