300 bhp saxo drive shafts

  1. #1
will a saxo running about 300 bhp chew drive shafts up and if so where is the best plase to get uprated ones and what sort of price are they. also is about 200 notes about right for a helix racing clutch

300bhp Saxo?? what do you know that we don't? who's running 300bhp?
  3. #3
helix clutch pretty much wotn take 300bhp for to long depending on your driving.

Shafts and diff/box are the weak points, again depending on your driving they will last longer.

BE3 conversion with custom shafts would be a better idea, not sure anyone makes uprated standard shafts at all

depends if your talking wheels or fly. THere will be a few this year over 300 at the fly, andyl already has 270 at the wheels which is well over 300 at the fly.

gear box from the MA engines 306, 206 etc... bit better built

i should be running just short of 300 at the fly but not a constant 300 that is with 50 shot gas and i no that the shaft are a weak point heard that the 1.4 shafts are a bit stronger is a myth

special shafts will cost about £400 each--but i doubt you will ever get that on the road --wheel spin--plus if you did the first thing to break will be the clutch shaft or stripping splines from inside of clutch plate
no a £200 helix will not ake 300bhp --no way no how
twin plate ap or helix is only thing to take that power.
If you fit 8/9" rims with race compound tyres then maybe you will put it down--then you will need to think about a totally dif g/box --so maybe a little wheelspin is not a bad thing then ?--it is for that reason that I do not like turbo power --it is too severe in the way it comes in -very sore on transmission-so option is to fit boost controller to limit power at lower rpms --why make things more complicated --use a super charger --the power comes ondirectly proportional to engine rpm --no big lumps --much easier to drive and more mechanically sympathetic to drive line

well i have got an apexi avcr to control the boost. car will be running about 260 270 without gas will the helix be ok for road but after a quick quarter car.

flippin heck mate 270 without Nitrous! do you have a prog thread, im interested to see what mods your employing to see that amount of power!

i do but my prog tread is on cruiseblackpool.gt28rs,tubular manifold, gas flowed head. over sized low comp pistons, forged conrods, quaif diff, external wastegate 38mm, apexi avcr, fully re mappable ecu, nos 50 shot with mini max

quite a list you've got there mate! impressive

no ,its not bhp that kills clutches+ transmissions but torque and a turbo car will make the bhp at lower rpm than n/a or a s/c --so torque will be lots at low rpm where boost spools up .nos will make it even worse as it jus comes in with a bang
look at formulae for bhp .
    300bhp @8k is same torque as 150@4k.
to stand a chance using your £200 clutch you need to regulate it so your 270bhp is made at over 8k .even then its unlikely it will do .
kit car engines that made 230bhp @9k use a better clutch than what you are talking about

lol how confusing are 2 letter abbreviations, are they acctually acronyms?

XU is the engine family and like TU are the saxo ones? & MA are the gearbox for XU engines. Something like that, i think we should name them anyway unless they do have names?

XU engines go with BE gearboxes

    TU with MA

    as a general rule

I work for a motor factors, and we have a driveshaft supplier who have made a few motorsport shafts for some rally boys round my way. I could get you a price if you wanted? what is it? VTR, VTS?

    300 bhp in a saxo, i like
