handbrake cables

fitted a new cable to the passenger side today, because i thought the old one was stretched as the the wheel still spun when the hand brake was on. went to fit the new one today, but still the same problem

The bracket the you slot the end of each cable too is at an angle when you tighted the bolt, but i cant get it to tighten enough on the passenger side because it makes the drivers side too tight so the wheel dosnt spin

The cars a 98 vtr, so discs at the rear. any help appreciated.

fair doo's, the car is still on the axel stands with the exhaust and heat shield offso i'll go take some pics, hope the flash is good on the digi cam

lol, mines been up on the stands for a week, just need to do this cable then its back on the road

have you tried slacking them all off and starting again

are the cables sided

yeh i have tried slacking them off, it has been the same with 2 different cables.im going to buy a new cable for the drivers side and hope it fixes the problem.

hopefully, im thinking thats its got to be the wrong cable on the drivers side if both cables for the passenger side were too long, maybe some one has fitted the cable for a 1.1 or furio?

im not sure if the cables are sided they might of fitted 1 for the other side so it will be to long

Replace the other cable too, so both cables are the same lenth.

I've just replaced both handbrake cables and citroen said there not sided. Mines though does sit angled aswell and always has done.dont understand it though but when on, it holds both wheels

My handbrake needs a looking at, drivers side is stronger than the passenger and the handbrake light randomly comes on/flickers..

fitted a new handbrake cable and all is good now, still slightly longer! next problem is the mechanism on the calliper where the cable pulls on has seized
