B&M Quickshift Group Buy

Been looking in to this and still getting prices in from people on the but need to know what sort of interest

Best prices so far is from Kam Racing £85 + £7 Delivery

Please only post if your interested.

Would be looking to get this done for start to middle of next month so gives people chance to save etc.

Will be posting on SSC and 106RR too.

its a 20 min job to fit them, the B&M one i have too me and landy 15 mins.

take your centre console out inculding the window buttons (if you have them)
that the 4 10mm nuts off your original gear stick base
pull it up
then undo the bolt/nut that holds your original gear stick to the gear selector with a 13mm and a 10mm spanner
then do the reverse to put the new one on

the B&M ones are £92 from Larkspeed collected

they are well worth buying, the gear changes are so much smoother and alot shorter. i am going to get one for every car i have i like them that much

there really that good ive heard that they can do premature damage to the gear box this is cods wallop isnt it ? so you can change then from siting in the car then nice . would it bring the 0-60 down ? surely not ?

yeah unless the last bolt is tight then its time to jack the car up and get underneath it.

i have never heard of any damage

it has the potential to do so as your gear changes will be shorter and therefore quicker

the b&m replaces stick as you can see in one pic. the taz one replaces the surround at the bottom as in marks pic. the taz is about half the price but you will have probs with centre console if you want to keep it. you can make something to hold the console down or let your wires flap as in pic.

as people said, if not set up correctly, or used with rose jointed linkages can cause early wear on synchromeshes on gears.

with the taz stlye yeah, although ive seen someone that cable tied the console down. the b&m one you wont need to do this

i remeber reading on RR about the group buy ages ago. think the taz shifts are either in no supply or are very minimal.

i remeber the taz ones the price did increase, but personally do think its a better unit.

i bloody want one for the 'project' mankee was gonna shave my balls ready for fitting some rose jointed linkages but couldnt be arsed lol

Pricy, it only causes early wear if your shifting quickly. You can drive around daily with it and o no extra damage + you will have smoother changes & less porridge stirring

as ive said on msn dude.. depends entirely on the way you drive/treat the box itself..

a fast change isnt allways the best.. in terms of longevity of the synchros if your slamming it into each gear.

smooth is the way

i have used three cable ties to hold my centre console down and it is held down better now that it was with the orginal gear stick in place

you can still have your centre console, your original gear knob and your original gear gatior with both the B&M and the TAZ styled quickshift

you can do fast and smooth gear changes... this just helps speed things up. The only downside is that its easier to fluff a gear initially, but you'll get used to it

DIY fitment as long as you are average with a spanner. Shouldn't take more than an hour really.

Can't budge on price unless people want them sent out Royal snail mail..
this cost includes TNT next day delivery. Royal Mail takes up to 5 days.

if your just slamming the gearchange as hard as you can you are effectively forcing it into gear, causing excessive wear on the synchromesh on each gear, this is usually why people 'racing' kill 2nd and 3rd synchros as these are the gears they slam into.

remeber speed can happen without exessive force, a fast gearchange can occur with one or two fingers, not arnie pushing it in as hard as can be done.

I've come upon a problem chaps.

Sold my all my B&Ms yesterday and when I've gone to order more there are no B&M kits with any distributor in the UK. They will be made in America in 2 weeks and despatched to me for end of March.

I can either refund people so you can try to source elsewhere otherwise there will be a wait.

still happening. There was a massive shortage of units though in the country. At the moment no-one has any in stock!

Yeah B&M really messed up big time.

The official story is that they mislaid the order and didn't make the quickshifts at all. So while the wait has already been a month I can get hold of any for another 5 weeks.

Everyone has been emailed giving the option of a full refund as thats a long time to be without the product.

I'll wait till the stock comes in and then I'll start this again!

much nicer gear change feels a lot more posiitve as well as being a shorter shift. gearnob is nice aswell

delivery pending. They have now been made and are on way from america by mule. Fingers crossed they'll deliver early this week! Can't wait!

We are currently being messed about by our supplier who keeps breaking promises on delivery.

We have decided to refund everyone who ordered as we'd rather refund than look stupid by passing on incorrect info. The delivery due has arrived without our large order of quickshifts and the 'new' delivery date is June.
We now have no faith in their ability to meet our expectations and feel its wrong to hold customers money even if they dont mind this joke of a wait.

Sorry for messing you guys around. We havent cancelled our order in frustration just yet so the group buy will return once we have our order delivered.

We are going to discuss what alternative we can come up with as we feel quite embarrased over this. It does not take 3 months to manufacture and distribute 100 kits to the uk.

we are sadely still waiting. Apparently they will arrive in June though we are not holding our breath just yet. Its giving us ideas for our own design instead which is probably unhealthy lol

Do you have a rough price for the pair? And does the boot have a plate indentation or holes for the badges (no holes ftw) and does the bonnet have grill?

will that have a number plate light in built? Ive seen a couple for sale and they dont have lights and i could do with one that will pass and MOT

The light wont be inbuilt. They are considering a number of options to do with lighting and attachments and they'll tell us when they're making the models up.
