Can any one tell me what they are runnign in the front and how the fitted the! whats the speaker that everyone goes for with losing the ability to open the window and without having to change the door cards... i.e. leave the speaker cover still on!

  2. #2
think they are 13cm and a decent set of component speakers and ur laughing.. the alpine type r ones are very good
  3. #3
i reccomend the vibe ones if ure on a buget, try ebay or
www.caraudiosecurity.com for the best deals. but if ur doin it, do it right and get a whole package, subs, amp, speakers, 6x9's and head unit
  4. #4
lol do it right and dont get 6*9's any where near the car, save the money and spend them on better front speakers
  5. #5
ooooohhh....i could almost feel a 6x9 arguement coming on there, love it.
  6. #6
    why no to 6 *9's?

  7. #7
when do you go to a concert and stand with your back to the music? same idea plus components wipe the floor with 6x9's in loudness and sound quality stakes.

better to save the money for better front speakers.

But im not sayig everyone should bin their 6x9s i have them cos i got them for cheap but they will be dissapearing soon hopefully

if you just wanna replace the front one they are 5.25 inches. ive replaced all mine with kicker ones an it made a quite a good improvement!!!
  9. #9
yeah they are 13 cm which is 5.2inches
  10. #10
yah but u need some bass in the back..fills the car...sounds mint
  11. #11
yeah get a sub for bass
  12. #12
Thats wot i have got! replaced teh speakers an a sub. if u want a professional systme you dont use 6x9's!!!
  13. #13
as soon as u shove a sub in ur shakin ur car to bits and its EXTRA WEIGHT!!!</font>
  14. #14
where else r u gonna get good base from? apart from a sub?
  15. #15
in my opinion you need 6x9s to finish the sound off. In my old system i had mids in teh front, a tweeter in each corner and a double 10inch sub and it sounded ok in the front but shite in the back (no mids). You need 6x9's as it evens the sound out. Plus the comment about going to a concert and standing with your back to the music is a bit silly. Your ears will pick sound up from all directions.

    Thats my 2pence worth.
  16. #16
Yes your ears pick up sound from all directions but realy why would you want to hear music coming from behind you? If you want a bit of rear fill stick some 10cm speakers in the quarter panels to give you a little rear fill.

6x9s are made for the mass market, they are cheap and they sound cheap, no arguements about it.

In no way do 6x9's compare to a set of components. Show me a PROPER sound quality or SPL system that uses 6x9s?
  17. #17
i agree Scott, but if u already have a pair of 6X9s wired up, why not just leave them connected to the head unit as a rear fill...better than chuckin them in the bin.
  18. #18
aye, im not saying everyone should chuck them in the bin and throw hard earned money away, just that you should consider spending the money on better front speakers
  19. #19
don't agree with the arguement about the concert, at a concert you face the front so that you can SEE the band, not hear them. I like the 6*9's, used properly in conjunction wth good front speakers they are the business. And I don't mind the sound coming from the rear,it sounds wicked. Down to personal opinion though I suppose.
  20. #20
ok so you go to see a dance concert and you cannot see the dj, do you turn your back so the sound is coming from behind you?, sit inside a proper ICE car with out any of this 6x9 rubbish and you will see what the business is
  21. #21
im sorry to have sparked this 6x9 thing off i havent bought any of the ice that i want yet. my mate however does hav 6x9's in the parcel shelf on his punto and they do make a difference, he doesnt hav any sub or amp and they have worked nicely.

im nt sayin that they are great or anythin, but from experience with other peoples cars they have worked quite well
  22. #22
and about the music from behind arguement, why do people buy dolby surround sound for their TV's etc. if they only wanted sound from the front
  23. #23
because surround sound is there for a purpose, on the tv and in films some sounds are purposefully made to come from behind you, in saving private ryan for example gun shots and bombs going off all round.

Very very rarely does this happen with normal music mostly the sound is left to right.

Im not saying dont buy 6x9's just that the results of spending more money on the front speakers would outweigh the benefits of the 6x9s
