Filter/Induction

  1. #1
Hey, I'm thinking of putting either an induction kit in my 1.1 or a filter however i dont have much to spend £30 max, i know that wont get me much but does any body know of some which sound good? as im not going for performance. I know it must be an open filter how ever i cant find what im looking for using search.

    Any help would be great

    Car - Saxo 1.1i X (spi) [P reg]

also is their any fitting instructions, as im new to all this.

    Thanks

yea that will do the job, if your after noise then go for it. K&N, pipercross, green are all well known brand names

Again their is this a max power filter, however i have people having a go at it?

    http://www.motor-world.co.uk/show_prod.php?prod_id=7405

saying that all it is, is loud?

I have a replacement K&N filter for my vtr and any extra induction noise isn't audible to be honest. Might add 0.3-1.5 bhp or something though.

Yea mines only a 1.1i so i dont need and extra bhp to be honest. just like the noise of some filters, but cant afford a decent Induction kit yet. so i ant some thing in the mean time just for the noise

that maxpower filter will make your car roar, but will make it sound really hollow. (dont know if thats right way to describe it) plus its mae of metal. no good for performance as itll soak the heat.
  11. #11
ooo right ill go for that then, would it be easy to fit? cant find a manual or what not.
  12. #12
personally if i was you i would wait and save up for a decent air filter, the max power ones are really a waste of time, get a piperX or a green with a cold air feed
  13. #13
Yea ill get my tax rebate then i will buy a decent one but atm the mo gonna get that max power one, any body know any places where i can get it, only found motor world atm?
  14. #14
    Argos
    Tesco sell crap airfilters too.
  15. #15
haha, dont worry its to annoy some chavs for the moment
  16. #16
suppose you could just drill the air box if you were after a bit of noise.

    free mod.
  17. #17
Really? where abouts? as you can see im clueless :\ cuz that wuld be alot cheaper then i can save up for the Green filter forced induction kit
  18. #18
It wont be greatest thing to do to your car... but nevermind

the black box just above the engine. thats the filter box.
  19. #19
so, could this fuck up my engine? and kill it? or just a thing that would be shit to do?
  20. #20
    lol if you want noise.
cable tie a cut up tight to your throttle body and dont run an airbox.
    thatll be loud.

    Ok back to basics:

All a induction kit or open cone is - is a Filter on the end of a pipe. End of story really, its really nothing complecated at all.

Take alook on eBay and whack in a search for 'Universal Induction' and find a cone some start as little as £15-£20 pounds. Then all you need is to conect the cone to the throttle body which controls the amount of air going into the engine with either modifing the pipe work that is already there or buying some Polished tubing and Silicone hoses from www.espdesigns.co.uk most universal cones will come with a selection of different sized adapters so one cone can fit anumber of different sized engined cars.

While your on eBay stick in 'Saxo Induction' and see how simple some of the VTR/S induction kits are basically a filter on the end of a straight pipe with a 90' angle.

Like I said its just a filter on the end of abit of pipework, have a look see what you think and maybe have a go :-)

Thanks but i think i will cut off my air box and cable tie it....

But yea thanks for the advice i think i will craft my own and see how it goes

Well Just phoned up my insurance company (Liverpool Victoria) and for an engine modification they would have to charge an extra £400 to my premium. £250 for body work £200 for exhast. so :\ and £125 for larger alloys. Gosh.
