hi, can u guys give me a list ov mods u have done and your average bhp increase, cheers
average bhp increas
-
#1
-
#2for what reason?
-
#3becuase im gunna start moding my new vts soon and was just wondering what bhp increase im guna get for different mods
-
#4normally
induction, full system + 8-9 bhp
add a decat and manifold + 15 bhp
add cams and remap + 155-160 bhp
add bodies depending on cams 165-185
can go on -
#5do u know aproximatly how much it would cost for cams n remap ??
-
#6buying and fitting them + map, looking at around 1k
-
#7would u have to get other mods done b4 that so it dunt cock the engine up ? cant u tell im a noob
-
#8no mate, cam belt change when change cams, thats about it. engine will be fine their bullet proof
-
#9sweet. what ypu done to your car? and what about ecu upgrade?
-
#10my car is induction, manifold, decated system, cams, head but not mapped.
you can map the standard ecu or buy standolone management (new ecu). that way you can add bodies after as you cant run them on standard ecu -
#11how much u spent on it alltogether and whats ur current bhp
-
#12pretty spot on from bullit, each car is individual though
-
#13Yer I think its safe to say that most people will only take engine mods to the Induction kit, Exhaust Manifold, Decat and performance exhaust as them mods could see a healthy 130bhp-140bhp depending on the parts used ie quality and the engine as even standard engines can vary in performance.
The mods mention above could set you back anywhere between £300-£400 for budget items or upto £600-sky's the limit really thats why most people stop at these mods as they turn there attention towards suspension, wheels, interior and other mods which they feel the money could be better spent than further engine work.
Really it all depends on budget - Speed is simply a question of how much money you have :-) -
#14well i dont wanna go crazy on the mods at first, im getting viper induction kit and a costom decat exaust from man bak with twin exits, got quoted around 3-400, any recomondations on the man??
-
#15If budget is a concern then people get good gains throughout the rev range with the raceland 4-2-1 manifold. Would complement those mods better than a 4-1 IMO
-
#16well i dnt reali wanna go cheap on it, one of my friends recomended a janspeed one, but im not reali all that good on what to buy lol.
-
#17anyone else have any sugestions, i do have quite abit ov money to spend.
-
#18i have around 140, spent around 2k.
if you want all out bhp i wouldnt have a viper as they have metal casing around them so heat up.
how much do you have to spend now? -
#19enclosed filter
decent manifold
decent exhaust
thats what i have and thatc ame to about £700 odd
depends how much you have -
#20i have about a grand to spend at mo, hopefully get exuast sytems and viper ind it outa it
-
#21with a raceland 4-2-1 and a full ashley system, with a BMC, will i be hitting about 135bhp?
-
#23i mean on my VTS

should i be expecting approx 130 bhp? -
#24around there.
carlos if i had a grand i would buy
green enclosed
gmc fannymould
supersprint staright through centre section
backbox of choice -
#26or you could budget
panel filter or raceland with green filter
raceland mani
straight through
backbox -
#27Im budget
Ashley system
Raceland mani and a 2nd hand BMC
-
#28well im getting a custom made de-cat man back system with twin exits, a few ov my friends have had these with brill results, can get it sounding exactly as i want.. that will set me bak around 350- 400 then 240 for viper ind kit, gives me around 300 for a manafold?
-
#29anyone got any ideas?
-
#30custom exhausts are invarably loud and shit. Viper ind kit is average.
How about a decent exhaust, keep an eye out for a used BTB? and then maybe a good induction kit, say a BMC and then a GMC manifold?
And less of these pub figures please. Adding 10bhp here for cams and 5 bhp there for an exhaust won't help you. Being completely off the wall, finding out where improvements can be made and, here's the crazy bit, understanding what each component does will in fact get you a better car to drive. BHP figures are for the pub. Which is where I'll be as soon as I can get out of work -
#31was gonna mention zorst but ive said twice about the filter dave so gave up.
-
#32if ya like get ya head skimmed to 2 mil you get an extra 2bhp from that alone dependin on mileage if it over 90isg it wont make a difference but otherwhiles it well worth doin !
-
#33yes. Great. I'm off to spend the day ripping the head off my car to skim it for the sake of two lame ponys
-
#34nah the place near me have had very good results with there custom exausts, and they get it exactly how u want it to sound, my friend is getting his done on his vtr tuesday so i will c the results, 350 for a man bak decat system with twin exits iant a bad price. he also has a viper induction kit so i will have to c what hes gianed
-
#35i know u really want that exhaust but peoples opinions are well worth listening to on here as a lot of them have been there tried that already. so u speaking to people who havea great deal of experience on this. just summit to think about before u buy things.
for example the viper. u need an induction kit which will resist heat as much as possible otherwise there is a possiblitly that u will actually lose bhp not gain it. -
#36well whats the best recomended induction kit on the market at the moment, if moneys no object???
