Yes it will fit all mk1's.
There is a guide on how to mesh a mk2 grille, but don't think there is one for a mk1.

    do it yourself...
its very easy...just buy some mesh or whats it called...
cut it in a shape to fit...make holes for the holders that you will find after removing the standard plastic grill...
paint the mesh and fit it..thats it

when you do it yourself...less money...and you will be proud of yourself...

Yer no prob, pop the bonnet and you should be able to work out what screws or bolts are holding it in, if you still cant work out how it comes out a copy of a Haynes will do you just as well now and for the future :-)

What your got at the moment? have you got the early slitted grill or the later Smiley grill like the one shown in the link - all the sports grill was, was the OE later Phase1 grill with the slates removed along with the Citroen Chevrons and then mesh to fill the hole :-)

Keep the mesh Black as Silver or Chrome mesh can look abit tacky :-(

also after the bolts holding the plastic you will need to remove the turning lights(dont know the exact word) then a small white plastic that is holding the grill on the sides...then it just comes off...

then remove the balck plastic with torx....

Yeah I am prepared to do it myself as long as I have a fair idea on what I am doing, The stuff I done to my car in the past, although basic I have done my self mostly.

Here is a pic of the sax

Its big I know, but its a pic and not a very good one, I took a few the other day when I cleaned it and has a nice one from the front of the car but havn't uploaded them yet.

It is a 1.1 x and the current grille dosn't have that fat lip bit at the top that some mark 1's have.

As seen at the car is black atm I'll go with sliver for the mesh this can be picked up at halfrauds?

I got a mk1 1.1 saxo i meshed my grill myself took about 30 mins tricky bit was cuting thats it i got mesh from local car parts shop for a £10.

    Bondie

Yeah its a real easy job! Even I can do it! as bondie said cutting is the tricky bit. It does really change the look of the car too. Just undo the 3 bolts on top of the grille, pop out the indicators and pop off the white clips underneath them and the grille should pull out. Undo the screws on the black part of the grille. Easy. Get some pics up when you've done it!
    Good Luck
