Boot Flush tips

  1. #1
Anyone got any tips for smoothing out a welded plate and getin the perfect finish for a boot flush ?

Also anyone know how much it would cost for a full respray matt black ?

full respray if you strip the car prior to going into the bodyshop it would cost a lot less around 500 - 600 id say

as for the flush boot its been asked a million times do a search

the bodyshop i get to do all my spraying would do acomplete respray, door shuts and everything for £650 and they would do all the stripping...........

its cost £250 to flush my boot, it had a plate welded in and expanding foam put in the inside so the new bit of metal wouldnt flex then fibre glassed and fillered and it still looks brilliant and it was done a year ago.........

cheers for the advice but my mate whos welding the plat on is doin it on the front , because the less body filler is beta because i have got 2 powerfull subs which will crack it,his 106 gti he did it the way the picture is and it kept crackin and fucked up, prob him but thanks for your help,i onli just started looked at the forums and glad i did , there well handy

plus the hole is huge so take up alot of fibre glass
  13. #13
thats the way id do it, weld a plate on in the recess leaving a bit of room to apply the filler
  14. #14
yeah i bought a pre smoothed one and theyd just filled the whole with filler and it sunk, now mines got expanding foam to fill the hole then a plate welded over the top then i very thin layer of filler to finish it off

kool,iv had a plate welded on now and a mate from a body shopin cmin rnd sat mrnin to do it for me as it pissed me of and he gettin another mate to come rnd in his truck which is full of proper hard exspanding foam, he thinks will get it dwn before i go wrk on sat ( at 12 ) so lets c wa hapens

The holes arent that wide could you not weld the hole shut by welding an edge of the hole and building it up to cover the hole then sand down and use filler to fill any small parts. Or would that not work at all?
  17. #17
applying that much filler and fibreglass as in the diagram above would be pointless, it will just sink and crack over time. plate on the outside is the best way
  18. #18
Could someone post a pic or drawing of what it looks like with a plate on the outside?
