how to fit strut brace?????

  1. #1
I have a strut brace and fitted it BUT my bro has just said to me i have fitted it wrong i have to jack the car up or somat is this true or some crap garages say to rip you off?

my strut is a upper and its a sparco .
  2. #2
if its an upper strut, all you do is undu the bolts where the front struts/suspension. line the strut brace up and do the bolts up again
, then tighten the brace up easy as!
  3. #3
Undo bolts, slot it on and then tighten it
  4. #4
Should be fine dude, as long as the bolts are back on tight you will have no problems. Jacking it would surely make it harder or a 2 man job lol
  5. #5
some say it to do it by jacking the car up but it doesnt make hardly any difference
  6. #6
thats wat i thought! my bro has a supra so my guess is he has to fit it differently to other cars.he said he has asked a number of machanics and they say you need to jack it up?.or like i said is this somat they do just to waste time so they can rip you off on labour charges lol.

becareful not to overtighten the nuts as they have been know to snap

your bro drives a jap car ... not a french one lol
  8. #8
yep jap one thats why i thought it may be different in the way they are fitted to different cars u see .

im gonna borrow my mates torx wrench so il tighten them to the right amount woo lol. is it approx 20mm or is it another tightness?
  9. #9
Milimeters (mm) is a length, you want a force, Newton Metres (nm) sorry to be pedantic, im in that kind of a mood tonight
  10. #10
its ok haha was a typo so dont worry haha my hands type faster then my head thinks at times hahaha
  11. #11
yeah its about 20nm i just hand tightened them, on saxos you only really have to jack it up for a lower one

and if you do jack them up for a top one the body will flex down so i dont think it would do the job properly fitting one jacked up

    the body will flex down
    VERY GOOD POINT lol
  13. #13
    STOP THERE

is this an upper or lower 1 your fitting

upper DO NOT JACK AT ALL

ALSO BE VERY CARFULL WHEN UNDOING AND TIGTENING THE 3 NUTS AS THEY WILL SNAP EASY IF OVER TIGHTENED

lower you will need to jack obviously

undo the nut on the rear bolt on lower arms DO NOT TAKE BOLT OUT

slide brace on tighten nut job done
  14. #14
i mean you could still tighten them up jacked up but it will be a bit harder i think
  15. #15
its an upper and its on now hahaha aint doen the bolts to tight just yet gonna get my mates torx wrench and have it at the proper tightness .
