hi there i recently bought my mk2 vtr off a garage and on buying it had to change a few things including neon washer jets!!! also whoever had it before me has put a set of 16v adhesive badges on the rear of the car how do i get them off help.

they are probably just put on with some double sided tape or adhesive, theres no pins or anything to worry about.

Just peel them off carefull and polish the surface underneath to get rid of any sticky marks left

You could always heat them with a hair dryer to make the them a little looser, as the glue will melt abit...

i think the best way to get badges off is to give it a wash first and the water will make it less sticky and come off easier use an old credit card to take them off

If your unlucky tho it will be stuck on so hard it rips the paint out in the shape of the badge, like one of my Furio badges did.

as above, heat with a hair dryer to loosen the glue up a bit. then CAREFULLY start to peel them off.

Then best to use some bug/tar remover to get rid of any last traces of glue on the paint & polish up.

I would use the hairdryer too

Edit - using a credit card aswell

i thought you were calling yourself an idoit for spelling it wrong then!

i don't know if i'd want to use my flexible friend though on the paintwork though. i don't know how flexible it would be and it could end up leaving marks.

try heating it up and then peeling it off. hot water with lots of shampoo should get the messy residue off eventually, then just give it a good polish.

heat the badge up to loosen the glue, then get some fishing line down the back to carefully peel the badge away. then use some polish to remove any marks left

Fishing line... That's one I've not heard before... But then I guess if it does the job then why not

I used thread of cotton down the back of some badges on my last car and it works well, fishing line would be even better.

I know this aint got anything to do with taking the badges off, but why do people bother putting 16v badges on a car that aint a 16v!
  13. #13
Because there shupid or they wish it was 16v but cant get the money for one.

when your left with the sticky residue get sum petrol/white sprite and just keep rubbing until it loosens?
    thats what i do.
