New gear knob

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem, but i have just bought a new gear knob and when i removed the one that was already on, there was this big plastic thing on the stick! I have tried quite hard to get it off, pulling and twisting, but with no luck! Anyone know how these come off, or will i have to destroy it! heres a pic. cheers.

I have that ronded ball thingie that holds te gaitor up. I just put the knob on top. Or do you mean the long cylinder black thing?

Only one way to do it mate, brute force with a saw bodge style. Just cut around the bottom in four places at right angles to each other, then twist n pull. Mind u dont cut your fingers though, i bled all over the dash wasnt nice.

Theres also a little thin white plastic bit underneath i could get that off so i wacked the new knob onto that and pull the gaitor up, all is good

if you have a dremel you could cut round it ie up the two sides and on the top and it should come off and as said keep the bottom bit of it as it holds the gaitor up

Cut it off mate with a hacksaw or something...

Easiest way would be to cut the lever just below it, so you have a more stylish, stumpier lever!
