Just a wonder really, just wanted to know how its done and how much it would cost
How would you fit a ps2 into a sax?

#2Its easy mate. What you after the fitting part or the working part
-
#3ive got an inverter and av lead on ebay mate
-
#6Get that inverter off him. Thats the one ive got and they are the nuts. Then all you need to do is connect it to the screen
-
#7lol, i need to get the screen
. I really dont have a clue about this lol
-
#8Yes mate it will proberly cost you around £70 if you shop around its easy
-
#9huh?? having a look on ebay....still dnt get it lol, so the screen gets plugged into the middle of the dash where the redio/cd player goes??
-
#10basically the inverter transforms 12 volts into whatever the ps2 runs at so wire it to a switched live and an earth
then the av lead (yellow, red and white plugs) plugs into the headunit and then at the other end the PS2 really easy to do providing you have the screen
heres my ebay item

#11i might sound very stupid but how do you wire it up? does it mean you have wires everywhere, oh im so confused
-
#12it sounds like your going to need someone to do it for you.
its quite simple but will include some wiring. you will need the ps2, an inverter and a screen. -
#13well you just take the earth from anywere on the car i used the bolt behind the carpet in the foot well as for the live just use the switched live from the headunit, the red wire is switched live
i used a block connecto
-
#14Sounds easy to be honest..
-
#15it is just my brain unit is knackered i just bought it and it doesnt work on my unit (the video anyway i can get audio but not video), works on my mates though, thats why im selling it on, the inverter i have retials at about 70 quid alone
-
#16I don't know if it is any good but homebase have just started a new range on this sort of stuff and an inverter is included in this!
£30 I think, and its made by belkin...
-
#18power convertor
-
#20Its quite funny though because, believe it or not, im usually quite good with wiring. I just never seen it before so didnt have a clue. Im getting it better now
-
#21you will need an invertor as previously said. this converts your 12v car battery power to 240v so that you can run household items, i.e. your PS2.
so you need an invertor, a screen, a PS2 and a head unit with an auxilary input (this will allow you to hear the sound through the car speakers).
there are two ways to wire the invertor; hard wire, or ciggerette lighter socket.
to hard wire it, you will need to join the positive of the invertor in with a live wire somewhere - possibly the stereo, but check first that it can take the load of the invertor.
also think about whether you want a permanent live, or an ignition live. this will determine if the invertor works with the ignition on or off.
you then need to earth the invertor. this is pretty simple, just take the negative wire and put it to a bolt or similar. (this needs to be a metal point that is touching the body or chassis of the car [the body / chassis is one huge earth point])
alternatively, just whack the ciggerette lighter socket in the lighter thing as and when you want power.
the rest is just as simple.
plug in PS2 to the invertor.
you then have the three wires from the back of the PS2 - video (yellow), and left and right audio (red and white).
join the yellow one with the screen.
put the red and white into the back of the head unit where it says 'auxillary input'
and you're away. all you have to do now is find somewhere to mount everything.
p.s. to wire in the screen, follow the directions for wiring in the invertor. its not as hard as it sounds.
