Dump valve for a diesel?

  1. #1
Hey people! Dont know wether this is in the right section, So i apolagise if it isn't! Im gonna go for a diesel for my next car! Thinkin of the Golf GT TDI 150bhp model. Just wanted to know if you can get a dump valve for a diesel car and if they sound good? Thanks in advance, Lee.

yep a turbo is a turbo pal!!!

    they will work
  3. #3
no they won't^^^^.diesels dont have conventional throttles, so there's no rapid increase in pressure when lifting off the throttle which the dump valve is there to release. you can get fake electronic dump valves for diesels which work off the ecu but to be honest they're wank.

Cool! Then looks like i'll be getting one when the Vee Dub arrives!

aye that's the one i'm talking about, it's connected to the ecu so it doesn't have the same use as a petrol model dump valve nor does it work of throttle vacuum but it makes the same gay noise

yeah on petrol cars the dump valve/recirc valve is designed to remove the air pressure in the inlet manifold/intercooler when the throttle body is closed and stop the turbo stalling
  11. #11
and it works from using the differences in pressures to trigger the dump valve to open

Squills, as I understood it, the 150hp model didnt fair well in reviews. basically its the same engine as the 130hp model except with a bigger turbo. And the turbo suffered from the typical inertia probs of big turbos as a result the 130hp model was favoured.

I had a Golf Plus loan car, GT TDi 140bhp , And that was crazy, it had traction control and still wheel spun to third gear!!

Was thinking of going diesel on my next automobile!

yeah them new gold TD's are well quick, i had one for work aswell
  15. #15

A decent superchip setup with a roaded remap gives around 30% more power and 40% more torque.
I would have said nearer 195bhp.

Golf plus GT TDi coming my way!!!

actually, my brother has got a dump valve on his tdi passat and it sounds wicked.very loud and is also a real dump valve - better than any petrol turbo car ive heard. but the best place to get one from is derv doctors in derby i think. he got one fitted with a switch so you can turn it off/on when he wants, its good if you want it for the noise!!!!!

i forgot to mention: derv doctors also do remaps. the remaps on tdis are awesome. bhp increases are good but its the torque thats mental on the remaps. my mate had a remap done and it was a stupidly fast car.its all about tdi`s nowdays!!!!!!!

Yeah i had one on my peugeot 306 turbo diesel, it sounded awesome!

But you wont get any gains!
