Supersprint Centre Section Fitment..

  1. #1
Just having a look at purchasing a Supersprint Center Section for my Furio mk2 (02).

Looking to purchase it from motorsportworld.co.uk, just wanted to clarify fitment..

There are 2 centre pipes same price..

Centre Pipe (alt. 80.13.03) - Fits to the OEM catalytic convertor

Centre Pipe (alt. 80.16.02) - For racing use only

Just wondered why it says for racing use only, as the catalytic converter i thought was in the manifold.

If someone could just clarify which i need to purchase, also is it a possible DIY job to fit???

    Many thanks

some cats are underneath the car and some are in the manifold, think the bottom one would be for the one with cat underneath and top one for the cat in the manifold.

    could be totally wrong though

Yea i assume thats the difference, anyone else agree with this?

liam you are wrong there mate.....

Both center sections are made for saxos with the cat under the car. The top one will replace just the center box and the bottom one will replace the center box and the cat which is found under the car on late MK1 VTR's and most VTS's. Hence they say that the second one is for race use only as it decats the car....

However I do believe that the second center section does fit early MK2 VTR's where the cat is located on the manifold. It will replace the center box and join to the bottom tail pipe of the cat.

In your case I believe the cat is on the manifold and therefore providing the second one fits a MK2 VTR it will only replace the section box and NOT the cat. So your car will pass an MOT and be road legal. However be carefull because without the center box performance can decrease as there is no back pressure. It may sound louder and raspier but back pressure is needed.

    Hope that helps!

Anyone have any ideas whether i'd be capable of fitting the center section myself.

Where abouts did you find the center section that does not de-cat? The only one I can find is the one that de-cats the car.

So the bottom one will fit Mk2 VTR's, and get rid of the centre box?? I didn't realise it would loose performance though.

You should be ok if youve got some DIY knowledge. Simple case of un-doing some nuts and bolts really...

Yep it will replace the center box with a straight through pipe. Yer performance is known to actually decrease with no boxes but im not sure on the details. Just know that back pressure is needed
