airbox/induction kit question?

hey, youve probably had this question loads of times before, but ive had a look through past threads but cant find what im after, so sorry in advance.

Ive got a saxo 1.1 (being 19 has its downfalls), and i have just orderd a green induction kit for my car, apparently it should go straight onto mine, no probs. But after looking at a few other saxo's on the net, mine has a weird round/block above the head, with a couple of feeds running off it, then it connects to the airbox, what is it? it seems like most others havent got this|?

    any ideas?

looking at my mates kit on his (vtr) it looks like its just a, take off the air box, bolt on the air filter job, but it looks alot more complex on mine?

My mate has a 106 1.1 so it has the same engine in as yours and he solved his induction problem by chopping the whole airbox off and using common sense looking at what pipes arent needed and blockin them and the ones needed he cut the piping just after the new filter and fed them into there.

where the purple box is that circlar bit isnt need buy a small breather filter from like halfords and stick that on there and then just chuck on your air filter
    hope that helps mate

Yep thats just a engine breather that allows the engine to erm . . . Breather :-)

Stops the oil from going sludgy and horrible, when you get your induction kit it may have a pipe to plug the breather pipe into if not, not to worry as you can get engine breathers from most Halfords Ripseed section of any online tuning shop - they come in either Cotton or Foam no difference in what they do - about £8-£10 should be about rite.

yeaah, thanks, didnt think i'd be getting rid of as much out of my engine bay as i will be...

what should i do with the sensor? tuck it away?

i was going to buy a green cotton kit from motorworld for 55quid apparently for my car/model, but to me this sounds pretty cheap for a 'full kit' and they have to order it in... am i just best to buy a decent filter/pipe/breather individualy and do it myself, cant be that hard can it?

after havin a quick look at the motor, im still not 100% sure on where my kit will join onto?

is it the first big round bit or where the airbox starts?

if you're getting a green kit it will come with instructions so dont worry! got one ages ago for my clio, they're a piece of cake to fit and the breather filter comes with it.

im just guessing but will probably attach to the main fixing piont ( where the big jubillee clip is in front of the oil cap)
but if your gettin it brand new then it should come with instructions

Most branded kits - K&N, Green etc come with worded instructions and sometimes pictured instructions.

If things still are alittle unclear investing in a Haynes manual will not only pay for itself on this job but with a saxo it will contuie to be a good investment and I can lay money it will come in handy time and time again!
