What do you think of...

10sax's etc, e.g Putting a 106 backend on your saxo or vice versa, perhaps even swapping the front ends around a bit. Or even a GTi bodykit on a saxo... Just been looking at: www.10sax.co.uk which got me thinking.

Someone from down out way has got a 106 rear end (Bumper, Lights and boot and arches remoulded to sit flush) on his mk1 VTS with the boot smoothed and IMO it looks great!

Are you planning on doing this to your next rebuilt write off?

They do look really good, but there is a lot of work to do to get it all to fit apparently!

CampDavid - Thanks for the positive comment...

Chris - Yes it does, been looking into it for a while, also really easy to smooth 106 boots!

hrmm, i'm not convinced. I do think it looks better than a saxo back end, but i'm not sure it'll outweigh the work involved. Good little project, be interested to see how you get on if ya go for it

To smoot a saxo boot - Fill in holes from badges, tack a metal plate across the recess then grind the weld down and filler the rest, smooth it, flat it etc and spray it..
With a 106 the badges leave no holes and wouldnt you be able to just filler the tiny recess left after the boot handle is off..? Obv. the number plate is in the bumper on a 106

So basically a 106GTi and a saxo back on it..? Or build the 106 front end on the saxo and add the GTi kit on it too?

Guy's 106 in the link is actually a 106... it's just he had a Saxo engine put in it.

He origanally had a VT* kit on it, then changed it again and again.

Same cars but different kit, panels etc etc. Engines nearly ideantical yes, but a mix between the two saxo front...106 back... Not doing it for you?!

I appreicate the effort like, but i think for whatever the cost was one could be a tad more creative. It does look good like, but i mean its just going to look like a saxo from the back and a pug from any other angle lol. Personally id just invest the cash into engine mods or something. like i said does look nice tho but not somethoing id do

I agree with you ther, Id rather do engine mods etc! And Im not a bodykit fan generally although some look nice..

I could pick up most the bits cheap from the local scrappy and do the work myself so cost shouldnt be too much, hadnt seen the VT kit on a 106 till I saw that site just thought it might inspire someone with a flat arch 106 to do the same perhaps!
Does anyone know If a smoothed 106 bonnet could be made to fit a mk1 saxo? Or would the wings need changing?

I think a mk1 saxo VT with a 106 boot, lights and bumper looks ace.

There was one for sale on ebay ages ago and someone on SCC has done it to his saxo 5 door.

As you say much easier to smooth a 106 bootlid. I've also looked into it and would like to do it to mine in the future.

    Love it in that pic.

Yes, personally like many others I think it looks really good!

106 with the Saxo VT kit looks great (as above) but I dont think a VTR/VTS
with a GTi kit on would look good.

The Saxo has curves where the 106 is boxy.

100% agree with you there Rushy.

Sure is,that 10sax and my s both look identical side by side until u look at the rear end!
  26. #26
I loves it. Think it looks brilliant!!

Actually I take back what I previously said!!!

Does anyone remember the L4Leather Black Saxo Demo Car? That Saxo
had a 106 kit on (not the standard kit though) and it looked pretty damn
    good.
I have some pics of it at home from when we went to Pax Mower ages ago.
Will show you what I mean,
