Its hard to tell really if one type of back box will work better than another, the best way to look at it is, as long as you stay away from large bore straight through Jap cans which will reduce back pressure as it as the gases just go . . . straight through

I reckon there could maybe only 2-3bhp between a good back box and a bad back box.
Your be gaining alot by decatin and fitting the new manifold so the back box is a pretty small part unless you go silly like I said and fit a open jap can.
The 4-1 will give mid to high range power gains which will be complimented by the decat and straight through centre.
If you was looking for more low down to mid range gains then a 4-2-1 and twin box exhaust would be better.
Besides its not the bhp you want its the torque's as that will make the car more enjoyable - with out torque all you'd do is spin the wheels
