-
#2if there gti 6 283mm discs then they wont fit u need to put gti6 calieprs on it , saxo standard calipers use 247mm discs
-
#3ok mate thanks. your pal willims has not got any gti 6 brake kits so i am gona have to look elce where for them as my brakes are poor at the min. would normal saxo drilled and groved discs be as good as the gti 6 set up or no way near as good??
-
#4no where near as good, the drilled and groved helps stop brake fade as it lets the build up of gasses escape, the gti6 brakes are bigger giving more surface area for the pads to bit onto with each wheel rotation. the gti6 setup is v good for the money, i sold a set last week
-
#5if you get another set ill have them of ya mate thats if i havent already got some by then mate il have a kit of ya what about these i am now thinking of buying these then some calipers from scrapyQuote:no where near as good, the drilled and groved helps stop brake fade as it lets the build up of gasses escape, the gti6 brakes are bigger giving more surface area for the pads to bit onto with each wheel rotation. the gti6 setup is v good for the money, i sold a set last week

gti6 rear: 247mm
saxo front: 247mm
saxo rear: 247mm -
#15pointless upgrading rear then?
-
#17I'm pretty sure the rears are exactly the same on both. And no, not overly worth bothering with an upgrade, though some ally twin pots would shave a bit of unsprung weight off for the truely hardcore
-
#19yeah thats right mate
-
#20chears pal i shall be on the look out for some front gti 6 calipers at the weekend thanks for all the help everyone
-
#21any pictures of the gti-6 brakes behind vts wheels? bet they luge huuuuuuuuuuuuuge!

#22does it matter what age gti6 i get the calipers off coz there is two versions 1997-2001 will this 1 be ok
-
#23Would have thought so but not 100% sure?
-
#24yer there is phase 1/2/3
-
#25what other calipers will fit my saxo vts 283mm disc set up only gti 6

#27can not find anything
-
#28Pm stevenet15 he will know.
-
#29thanks
-
#30All are the same. Thought you could run GTI-6 brake disks on saxxo calipers and pads?
-
#31as far as i am aware there are two types of gti6 calipers, there are lucas type and ATE type, they both run 283mm discs but the calipers are slightly different from what i have read. the lucas ones were on the earlier ones from 1997-1999 and the ate were genrally on the later 1999-2001 ones. i have seem many gti6 cars and work/striped a load of them but i have yet to see a set of ATE ones as they have allways been lucas on the ones i have seen

#32im not sure if some of the bigger 307 HDIs use the same caliper as the 306 gti-6, i know the 206 gt 180 setup is very similar and the discs are the same size, so the calipers will be compatible. was size calipers and discs are on the 2l 406 coupes??
-
#34so if i happend to find 206 gt 180 calipers they wood fit my saxo and work with my gti6 brake discs plz let me know as i cannot find any gti6 calipers anywhere.Quote:im not sure if some of the bigger 307 HDIs use the same caliper as the 306 gti-6, i know the 206 gt 180 setup is very similar and the discs are the same size, so the calipers will be compatible. was size calipers and discs are on the 2l 406 coupes??
also what about the 307 1.6l xsara vts wood these calipers work too??
-
#35you can run gti 180 calipers with 306 gti-6 discs as the discs are the same size, but finding a set of gti 180 discs will be hard to. the are bigger than the standard 206 gti calipers.
dont quote me on this but i think the 2l HDI 307 has the same calipers or at least disc size as the gti-6 and 206 gt 180 calipers. but dont take it as gospel lol -
#38After doing a bit of research on this it seems like there is a lot of vehicles that you will be able to get either 266mm or 283mm discs (and therefore calipers) off.
Have a look at:
www.apec-braking.co.uk
Look through cars in the citroen and peugeot range that ran 266 or 283mm discs, then you will be able to see which cars ran the brakes you want. -
#39i have there catalouge in the house.

you cant, gti180 and gti6 discs are a different thickness and offset.
all 307 283mm brakes are teh same as gti180 but gti6 is different. -
#41there are many different discs sizes offsets and pad variations so you cannot just mix and match them. only some are compatable. you cant always go off pad either as the 1 variation of the 206 gti 266mm uses the same pad as the 307 283mm.
all 307s 1.6 + above use the 283mm brakes.
