Supercharging a 1.1... i didnt think u could?

  1. #1
found a supercharger on ebay and a question was askd if it would fit a 1.1saxo and they replied sayin yes. would i be right in thinkin it would put too much strain on such a small engine?

bah let me guess...one of them shitty 'electric supercharger's? they suck ass mate, DO NOT BUY IT!

im pretty sure you have to do a lot of strengthening of parts

pug-performance fit these i think and its mega bucks

of its an electric one. dont bother.
the drain on your battery isnt worth it

Ebay 'superchargers' are not the real thing, cheap immitations that barely make a difference and on a 1.1 even though it might fit will probably have next to no effect.

They could easily seem appealing though to anyone who hasnt looked into the full costs of proper parts etc.

Would love to know how many they actually sell

cheerz for the warning i had a look on howstuffworks.com before and when i saw the ebay one was bit suprised that it didnt run from the drive belt.
any ideas on increasing performance on a 1.1? already got induction kit...

you'd be much better off lightening the car man, remove junk that you dont need the induction kit will probably do bot all, depends on the type and location within the engine bay.

Any Size, Layout of type of engine can be blown (turbo/supercharged).

Dont forget Smart cars are only about 600cc or 800cc (cant remember now) and they are turbocharged.

A compact turbo/supercharger requires no horsepower to work (unless we'r talking Monster Blowers then that statement is incorrect) and is a good way to produce extra performance from a small block engine - but its mainly for the extra torque that blowers are fitted for.

Its not a case of is the engine big enough to warrent a blower (performance wise) but is it Worth spending that kinda money on a small cc engine as in most cases the smaller cc the lower down the spec list and hence not worth the money to justify the conversion.

Get yourself down to a tuning company (any car maker, doesnt have to be citroen) and just tell them you'd like a bit more power what can they recommend...

Ive seen a few 1.2 novas pushing 150bhp...

Having the right equipment to hand is always a big help, you could turbo it on a low PSI if you got a small diesel turbo but you'd need to make your own fittings.

Just to show you how simple turbo convs are heres a picture of a jeep wranglers kit -

ste that jeep wrangler kit is wicked hahaha
if you were willing to spend the money (and i dont no why you would)
you could get a custom made one theres a tuning compnany round my way that does anything you want as long as you got the dosh.

aye from the wrong side .
noreason why you could fit a rotex to a 1.1 --just costs money--you could more than double the bhp

think you should buy a vts mate you would be getting the same power if you supercharged the 1.1 and then you could even supercharge the vts therefore iving twice as muh power as the 1.1 supercharged

dont bother until you can afford insurance on a vtr/s then tune that
  15. #15
    *Sigh*

Maybe a year and a half ago your opinion might have affected his decision. Sadly it is far too late now!

Although maybe he can afford the insurance now...

why do people keep saying put a vtr/s engine in ?? than that wouldnt be a 1.1 would it ?? when hes on about his 1.1 engine lolz

    no they didnt
and it doesnt mate as they helium ha smaller molecules that escape through the rubber (seen guys try it on there bikes a few years back they stayed for about 10-15 mins usually)
