Where to find the Paint Code

  1. #1
    Hope this helps people

Obviously the code shown is not exactly going to be for your car unless its the same as mine and thats icelandic grey So heres were the code is also its on your strut top in the engine bay but my strut brace is covering it

The 4 letters are your colour code

Normally they will just ask for 3 letters so take the 1st 3 letters, so in my case it would be EYL

i did use the search function but i thought halfords had a reputation for not doing a good job on paint matches. thats what i read in all the threads i found from the search. but i'll give halfords a go.
  17. #17
Dnt use Halfords m8 they made a sh1t job of matching my paint.

    Steve.

I have a Mk1 Saxo Pred... My sticker isn't there but instead its on the edge of the door showing tyre pressures.

Would it be in the boot on the metal stamped plate maybe?

Sorry to bring up a old topic, I'm really intrested to know what colour mine is.
  19. #19
Dannyboy it will tell you your colour 'name' on your logbook.

Then you can do a search for the code using the name.

    If that makes sense... lulz.

    Log Book? V5 Document?

    Just says 'Red'
  21. #21
Awesome was about to do a nice newbie post asking about where the hell to find it =]

rather than start a new topic, i thought id jump on this one... Right, i got my colour code (only needed the 1st 3 digits like said b4) and turned out to be "quartz grey"... so i thought GREAT! GOODBYE BLACK SCRATCHES/STONE CHIPS ETC!!... wrong....

Went to Halfords and they had on displey a LOAD of different colours for different car makes/models etc.. and they just so happened to have Quarts Grey for Citroen so i was made up...

But after 'cleaning the scratches out' then 'slowly buliding up the primer' like stated (which was scary coz it was a well dark grey colour...completely different frm the car colour) i started applying the actual paint/quartz colour (the next day)... it looked quite good to start with, but honestly, i dont think its done my car any good after all.. -the colour is way off.. Its better than after id 1st used the primer obviously, but still, u can easily tell where ive 'painted' over certain areas...... so what did i do wrong!?... it seems like the colour was wrong after all?... weird. Ok, rant over.
  26. #26
thanks need my paint code for tommorow.
  27. #27
benii what did you paint and what colour primer did you use? Also what do you mean by cleaned out the scratches if you sprayed a main part of the vehicle aka roof wing ect then the surface needs to be keyed to give the paint a good serface to stick to.
From what i can gather all saxos a COB (clear over base) so the laqure would of needed to be removed fully or keyed up and re laqured to match the colour and to make it look even ... hope that helps you

You used Halford paint mate, they have the worse colour matches.Go to a car paint supplier & they`ll make up an aerosol can for you.

What to do when there is no sticker @ your car? Mine, mk1, doesn't seen to have the badge shown @ the first post.. But, on my door-wrinch (hopefuly write it the right way) there is a code, saying Y 457 and @ the other side it says U 457.. Does that mean my color is 450, Atlantic Blue?
  35. #35
It'll be stamped onto one of the suspension turrets in the engine bay also. (As explained in the initial post).
