Caliper Housing Color

  1. #1
Looking to repaint my front calipers and do my back ones for the first time.

Easier to remove the whole caliper housing from the car (disconnecting brake hose etc) and cleaning them up and painting/spraying? Would prefer spraying but not sure if it will last with the brake dust and stuff.

    Regards

Tbh m8 you have 3 choices,

Go Halfrauds and buy some Caliper paint, about £12

    1) leave caliper on and paint it trying not to splash paint on the Pads / Carrier

    2) Remove 2 bolts and prise caliper back away from pads and paint

    3) Remove caliper completly by removing bolts and hose and either spray or paint.

Use lots of brake cleaner and a wire brush helps with cleaning the calipers before painting.

Would prefer to spray them to be honest as paitning my front ones were a bitch. mix of hardener and paint was crap as i rushed it ready for a cruise about 4 hours after finishing the fronts! Backs havent been touched yet.

Any specialist spray or jsut a heavy duty metal spray. Not sure on colour yet for a black saxo! fronts are yellow at the moment!

Yeah im not a fan of painting, rather prefer spraying! dont mind paying a bit extra for some super-duper spray tho!

lots of brake cleaner and scrubbing to do yet! might jsut buy some old calipers polish them up and spray them as my front calipres are yellow at the moment!
