did they have pictures of each wheel to let you get a good look at them, its a good price stil
  3. #3
he lives up the road from me so i can go n see them.
    Whats the normal price?
  4. #4
well they usually go for about 150 for a good set

have a look at them and if there bad still get them lol doesnt cost that much to refurb them
  5. #5
Good price mate. Obv check them out but as predators said, £150 for a mint set!
  6. #6
    are they all 15s?
so 120s a good price then?

Whats the dealio with declairing them with my insurance company?
  7. #7
    vtr alloys are 14's mate.

Its best to ring your insurance and ask as some dont charge for exterior mods/ wheels etc. Just ring them and tell them your thinking about putting citroen alloys on your car and they will tell you how much / if any extra it will cost to put them on your policy.
  8. #8
yeh aparently they are mint.. but what if there are a few blemishes?

    Shall call em 2moz.
  9. #9
I wouldnt worry about little blemishes mate, providing they really are little. Remember they are second hand wheels after all lol. Have a look for any bubbling as vtr alloys seem to suffer from that.

You can always try and knock the price down if there not as good as the sellers made them out to be!
  10. #10
so bubbles...is that under the paint?

How much for a new tyre? (cheap 1)

Are there any dark blue saxos with VTR alloys on? (possibly with out th VT body kit)
  11. #11
seen them tonight sligh scuff round the rim of 1 of em and a slight scuff in the middle of 1 will they polish out?
  12. #12
ok iv now seen the alloys in the day light, their not bad... But the paint is fairly bubbled on 1 of them in the gap between 2 'spokes' and theres another that has a scuff near the centre with a lil more bubbles in the pain (only small)

^^^This is all on top of needing 2 new tyres soon (yes, 2 now) and the scuff round the rim of the alloy on 1 of them.

    Theres only 1 alloy unmarked

Help plz ppl. Should i negotiate the price? and if so what to?

PS. Hes not a saxo driver

    Chris

i just bought what seems a good set for £65
  14. #14
Offer £80. I bought what sounds a similar set a few months back. You gotta fork out for 2 new tyres and tbh it sounds like they could do with a refurb.

Explain to him your reasons and if we wont budge on the price i would leave it. For £120 your looking at a price for a mint set tbh
  15. #15
Rite thanx dude, thought id be best running it by some ppl that know what ther talking about.

How much would materials cost for a refurb to do yourself?
Is it difficult?... i have seen the VTS alloys beeing refurbed (never the VTRs)but the shape looks easier to deal with compared to the VTR
  16. #16
tbh i agree for £120 you should be getting an excellent set of wheels! i would offer no more than £80 and stick to that, if he says he is going to ebay them good for him i doubt with bubbling etc he will see more than £80
  17. #17
if your wanting to pay £80 offer £70, he will be gutted at first but say well al get them off ebay for half what your selling them, make it like your doing him the favour by taking them off him!
  18. #18
yeh i've thoguht of that he said if he dunt sell them then their gettin sold with the car :| so i dont know if he is gonna put the price up on the car with alloys or what. So im thinkin i could haggle him down - if hes not a nob about it.

If you do a search on 'refurbing alloys' mate you may find something that helps you.

Me and my dad did my wheels. We masked around the tyres as i couldnt be bothered to have them taken off and then rebalanced again.

Ii cant actually remember what we did to get rid of the bubbling but sheadloads of rubbing down was involved to get them smooth. We sanded them down until the alloys were really dull.

Dad stuck a bit of filler where the curbing marks were. Waited for them to dry and then sanded down again.

Im not sure if he then sprayed them or did anything else, i wasnt there lol.

You gotta take your time, the end result is soo worth it.

Guides a bit rough/ rubbish but you kinda get the gist i hope.

Thanx allot, any idea on COST?
  21. #21
Im not sure tbh its more time consuming than anything. Deffo cheaper than getting them done by a alloy wheel company tho.

Youl need masking tape (if you dont take the tyres off)
Rubbing down paper (cant remember the grade)
    filler
    Sandpaper as well
Used toyota silver on my wheels
    Laquer
Think ive missed something but cant remember what!

You doing it with rattle cans?

Only way i can do, i dont have access to a gun.

Is primer missing from the list?
  24. #24
I couldnt have black rims - If anything I'd have to have some sort of GunMetal finish.

    I only want a very rough estimate..plz
  25. #25
Im not 100% on primer. As far as i know you dont prime alloy wheels, im not sure about the bits that would have been filled though.
  26. #26
I reckon your looking at about £60ish. Its about one rattle can of spray to a wheel.
  27. #27
i bought a mint set with the slightest scuff ever and all new tyres for 95 collected
