FAO people who have uprated to the 306gti6 setup...

  1. #1
How much difference are they over standard, so say theres a mega difference where as some say you wont see gains unless you uprate the master cylinder to the 306 one aswell?

So far i have the 306 gti6 setup, brand new standard pads and 283mm grooved and drilled discs.

Sould i go for the master cylinder aswell? Stevenet15 has and he has told me they are much more sharper and you dont have to press the pedal half way before that start to come on....

    Just want some feedback please
  2. #2
dont think its improve much, just fell better on the pedal. 4 pots
  3. #3
i got some 266mm set up from Stevenet15 and got them fitted today and they are miles better than the standard ones, however i do have rear drums

I had the 266mm setup on my vtr with uprated discs, was better but not by much!

I didnt realy want to uprate the damn master cylinder but if the pedal needs pressing half way even with uprated hoses i think i better right?

    More fucking about though grrr!
  5. #5
so youve not fitted the 283mm discs yet
  6. #6
No and it was a good job i didnt fit it yet after hearing that!
  7. #7
well jumped out of mine and then jumped into Matt's

And by-christ the difference is very very noticable.

i had my 283mm gti6 brakes with standard hoses on my vts and the pedal length was appauling i had to push it almost half way before it even started to brake. fitted a 23.8mm master cylinder and jesus did it make a different i hardly have to even touch the pedal now so i recommend anyone that upgrades over 266mm to get one
  9. #9
my pedal now only has to be half way down and ive nearly stopped

off a 306 gti6 there 23.8mm and u can get them on some 406s. normal saxo/106 master cylinder is 22mm
  12. #12
mine was fine when i ran the 283mm brakes on standard MC, a bigger mc would of helped though.
it isnt much work to change MC either.
  13. #13
    only vts/gti MC is 22mm.

gti180 gti6 307s 406s have bigger MC. loads of cars.
  14. #14
Where best an cheapest place to get one from then? an what price?
  15. #15
I have jsut bought some gti-180 brakes for mine. Think im gunna fit them and see how it goes. And if im not happy with them, i will uprate to a gt-6 mc.
  16. #16
there about £15-£20 on ebay, u need to use the saxo resivior & seals on it, the gti6 res fits but its dam close to the bonnet cehck the pics of the gti6 res on it, the saxo one is easy to swap over jsut pop the two seals out with a flat headed screwdriver

I didnt find the pedal travel too bad on the standard MC, but I imagine part of that is personal preference.
  18. #18
Hmm still not 100% sure what to do...

Some say change it because the pedal travel is shit, it would need priming etc so its not as simple as people say.

Just more fucking about isnt it!

I dont want to fit the brakes and hoses then bleed it all then find that i should of uprated the mc as i will have to bleed it all again...
  19. #19
i find that my brakes are a million times better, as ad says, even ask danny.

i have the saxo mc as well

to prime it all u have to do it put fluid in the resivor and pump the stalk, hardly rocket science lol

lol it all seems confusing when people tell u different things, its a shame u dont live closer coz i could have come and given u a hand doing it all
  23. #23
    Too right!

I fitted the 266mm setup on my old vtr, that was easy i just clamped the hoses and bled the front calipers after

This should be easy as its just a case of going round four calipers instead of two making sure i near enough drain all the old fluid

Ill speak to you on msn about the 306 mc and fitting matey!
  24. #24
i havent got a larger mc on mine and i dnt think theres much difference in the feel of the pedal just slightly longer but by hardly anything atall! and u get used to it anyway!
  25. #25
So still a good improvement over standard mate?

Come one tell me more about it....
  26. #26
for the extra you might aswell
  27. #27
yeah its only £20 for a 23mm mc
  28. #28
