some guy on ebay metioned putting the rover 220 (200 bhp) 2l turbo engine into a saxo? anyone heard of this before? would be rapid if possible!!!!
t series engine in saxo?

#2to my knowledge ive never heard, seen, questioned this been done
-
#3ROVER no bloody way hozay lol, i wouldnt go near one sorry
-
#4you want a rover 200 engine, buy a rover 200. 200bhp@wheels can be acheived easily with vts engine.
-
#5for the amount of money you would spend getting 1 fitted with the custom parts
you could get a vts upto that bhp -
#6Robin Hood Engineering before it was sold did a kit called the 1-0-Sax where they fitted this engine into a 106 shell that was panelled up as a Saxo.
This had the Rover T16 turbo engine fitted.
What precisely is wrong with the Rover anyway, that no one can say about the Saxo/106? Mmm? -
#7no 1 said anythings wrong with the roverQuote:Robin Hood Engineering before it was sold did a kit called the 1-0-Sax where they fitted this engine into a 106 shell that was panelled up as a Saxo.

but why put a rover engine in a saxo when you can tune the perfectley good vts engine to the same spec for more or less the same price as fitting the rover engine
fitting the bigger engine will also ruin the handleing of the saxo which imo is a daft thing todo unless your just using for 1/4mile days -
#8i just wouldnt touch a rover or engine just for the parts and the reliability ave heard with them
-
#9didnt rover turn to honda to replace the engine
-
#11i think ill stick with the tu engine thank you
-
#12yeah thats right hess forgot about that, but id rather have a VTS engine in and tune that up or buy a rover with that engine in which i still woulnt do cos i dont like rovers at all
-
#14No they didn't. The K series was a 1.4 originally, and was used as a smaller option for the D series Honda unit. The K was bored and stroked over the years with new liners and eventually a new crank for the 1.8 (wet liner engines so capacity changes are easy).
Indeed, never said it was good, just hate to see ignorant people ragging on a perfectly good engine. Nothing wrong with the T16 motors head gasket, just a rather stpid design point that makes it leak oil...Quote:fitting the bigger engine will also ruin the handleing of the saxo which imo is a daft thing todo unless your just using for 1/4mile days
K series engines are prone to gasket failure due to cheapwad owners that scrimp on servicing and who rag the engine from cold. -
#16Also, the Kseries has a low coolant capacity which means its easy for the coolant temp to get too high.
The VTS engine is surprisingly underrated; if you see the big ends in them you will laugh as they are MASSIVE, about 2litre equivalents easily. Pistons and rods are pretty hardy too, you need to go some to break a TU5 bottom end. -
#17as a certain person told me last night the bottom end on a TU is bomb proof
shows as my block as done 145K -
#18how can you achieve 200bhp with a sax???? turbo obviously, which is alot of cash too....
i dont think rover are good (sh*t) -
#19One of my mates has just bought a rover 200 so he cant put the engine in his rover 214... i hate rovers but his looks really good!!!
-
#21it would be rapid...Once!...and then Bang! as the Rover engine self destructs.
-
#23No it doesn't.Quote:it would be rapid...Once!...and then Bang! as the Rover engine self destructs.
The 177k mile Rover ^20Ti sat outside proves this. There's nothing wrong with the T series engine apart from a recurring oil leak from one corner of the headgasket.
Chav owners who fit bleed valves to turbo Rovers manage to blow them up regularly due to the engines suffering from Imprezza piston syndrome.
