gearbox diff's

  1. #1
My mates got a starlet turbo, and he's in the process of changing the gearbox diff from an open one to a clossed one. Apparently he claims its going to put more power to the road. Might be a stupid question, but what the hell is a diff and how does it work? Do saxo's have them and do we have an option to change them once the engine has been tuned up!!

You can change the diff int he gear box, I have a quaffe LSD which basically transfers power to the wheel with the most grip.

mines arriving with a 1.5 diesel gearbox in it.

Why has the previous owner done that?

    My car is a 1.1 peugeot 106

maybe the gearbox went and that was a vailable at the time. No gearbox is any stronger than another within the saxos but they do have different ratios. The 1.1 is close to the vts, expect the 1.5 is similar to vtr. I would expect that the box you have on it now is lonegr than the original 1.1 box.

its aftermarket. limits wheelspin with cars with bigger power. also round corners transfers power as said above to the wheel with most grip. pulls you round corners. one of the best mods you can do.
