so y are you using gloss black then?

if you dont they will chip all the time
  8. #8
Yeah start at a rougher grade mate, and work your way upto the 1200 grade.

The more different grades of sandpaper you use, the better the finish.

i knew thats what you meant mate, not wanting wheels spectacular but will take the advice to get some laquer!
  15. #15
i would mate or you will be re doin them every couple off month's
  16. #16
i did a guide some where

you want etching primer not plastic or normal primer

id say maybe 2 tins of paint and laquer and maybe 1 of primer depends on how many coats you want on each wheel

take they tyres off is possible it will be worth it

1200 grade wet and dry to finish and make the primer smooth should do
800 or 1000 use before that on the wheel before applying primer
  17. #17
6.29 per tin???? thats expensive i got mine for 2.29 and primer was 2.99
  18. #18
    halfords innit. nuff said.
  19. #19
mine have chipped due to no laquer
  20. #20
    Suppose what a rip off!
  21. #21
think al get it from motorist bargain shop lol there £3 but 300ml. Somethings there cheap but some expensive,

should i use matt or gloss black????? dont want them too shiney tbh

    What did you use claire
  22. #22
Id use gloss if youve been told it will come out crap using matt. Then just do 1 layer of laquer. I used 3 cans maybe more of laquer on mine and they int that shiny to be honest.

Used 1 n abit cans of primer. Just over 3 cans of gloss black paint and just over 3 on laquer i think.

No, use the finest first, then you work down, but you only want to take the shine off, then primer it, metal, because your wheels arn't plastic. then the top coat(s)

how far do i need to sand bud? going to be up early, clean them down and get cracking with the painting!
  31. #31
i didnt sand them that much just enough to get rid of all the marks and to give the wheels a good rubbing over so the paint will stick

shit, they were still a bit tacky not totally dry when i did it, as had people saying wait till dry and others saying what you said the tin said half an hour was roughly 50 mins tbh but there in a cold garage so not drying too fast.....

How long do i have to wait between coats of laquer
