port & polished throttle body (ALL EXPLAINED PAGE 4)

  1. #1
    hi everyone.
as you know i port & polish a lot of VTS and VTR throttlebodys to sell on sax-p and also on ebay.

just thought i had to share this with you as i am so shocked!

since i dropped the vts engine in my vtr i ported & poloshed the throttlebody. today i stuck a standard one back on and took it for a blast.

i can honestly say that i am gob-smacked with how much slower my car feels! throttle response it uber shit and it has got very poor power in lower revs. it feels like there is something restricting the revs!
(compared to havuing the p&p throttle body on)

I can guarentee that my figure of 166bhp on my cammed vts has DEFINATLY been helped by having a port & polished throttlebody included in my spec.
  2. #2
slighly off topic but you cant guarantee that figure of 166 @ the fly the wheels figure you can

Always thought the inlet system on teh saxo's was pretty decent, but good ot hear it can be improved cheaply to
  3. #3
lol lets talk wheels figures then dude!

i just thought i was back in the vts before it was cammed!lol just couldnt beleive the difference between ported & standard unless its just the fact that my car hasnt been mapped to a standard throttlebody but i doubt it!
  4. #4
Suppose the map would be slightly out with the standard body on. Which begs the question why you have a standard one back on
  5. #5
    lol it was easy £££

a mate of mine asked me if i could port & polish his throttlebody for him so i said yer. he arrived at my house a bit later than usual and i only had 30mins before i had to get changed to go out so i just said we would do a swap.

then when i get chance ill port & polished what WAS his standard throttlebody.

that fu**er is gonna be the fastest iv ever ported & polished a throttlebody lol cause its shite as standard!

  12. #12

  13. #13
i know matey. i can remember chatting. dont get me wrong guys stevenet does a good job and does it at a good price too as these can take a while to do! i have a couple of vtr ones on ebay at the moment. they end tomorrow evening if anyone is interested? thay are on a part exchange basis.
  14. #14

  19. #19
pm me for prices if interested.
  20. #20
    Steve does them cheaper.

He told me he was the one that made the guide in the first place anyway.
  21. #21
can u also do these for 1.4 engines?
  22. #22
how much does steve charge? where is the guide for doing it?

i first put the thread up about the port & polished vts throttle bodys and about removing the lips, imperfections etc... and spencer also contributed to this and went on to do it for people where i jsut did it for myself at the time. spencers work is real good and he is a genuine nice bloke, there is nothing in it between one i have proted and one he has ported as we both do the same thing but if u do decide to get a ported throttle body get it off either spensor or myslef rather then someone else as we have done quite a few between us and know exactly what were doing

the guide is no longer avaliable and it was for vts throttle bodys not vtr, also u need the right equipment and tools to get the good finish with out imperfections and it also takes a good few hours to do wich is why its easyer for people to get us to do it. i am currently only stocking vts throttle bodys but if you wnat a vtr one pm spensor and he can sort you out
  25. #25
can sumone do a 98bhp vtr one then please lol?

  31. #31
can do a mk2 vtr one anyway. even though they are plastic there are still restrictive areas on them!

iv done well over a hunderead of these now and also do them for other cars such as rs turbo's, vauxhaul redtop engines, mondeo, corsa's and rover k series ones
  32. #32
    ill drop the price lads,
    £23 including postage!
  33. #33
i love the noise difference it made on my car. much more towards the noise of a proper TB's engine.
  34. #34
£23 for a plastic vtr one, will they make the same difference as a metal one
  35. #35
yes it will make a similar difference mate.
  36. #36
so it will be 23 + my old one, deal
  37. #37
i havnt got a mk2 vtr one mate. but if you send me yours then i can do it for you for £23
  38. #38
i used the car everyday mate,so i couldnt do that
  39. #39
would need to source a second hand one from somewhere then matey. ill keep my eye out any you have a look around to
  40. #40
    nice one mate
  41. #41
and yes i can do the 1.4 throttle bodies too
  42. #42
£23 posted for a mk2 VTS one mate??
  43. #43
yes mate. but that is on an exchange basis. like you send me your standard one once the port & polioshed throttlebody is finished
  44. #44
i have a 1.4 furio and that is a plastic TB, would a metal one fit on? if so from what saxo?
  45. #45
Ahh right the price they now sit at sounds fair mate!
  46. #46
im not sure matey but if you sent me yours then i could do it for you.
  47. #47
its very underpriced to be honest mate! hi flow heads do them for £55! so £23 is a fookin bargain! lol. but if it means more business im willing to drop.
  48. #48
i may have one mate i do have a spare too

ps i have a mk1 90bhp engine (vtr) and the manifold is plastic my mates is also
  49. #49
awesome! just give me a shout when you want it doing and ill give you my address to send it too!
  50. #50

  55. #55
    around £2.20 1st class recorded
  56. #56
23squid for a vts one posted?

i send you ,ime and you send me a ported and polished one?

whats the crack with these, what do you do, how much you take off them?

surely you can only open the filter end of the TB up, wont be able to touch the butterfly end?
not that i have ever had a look at the vts TB, lol just curious lol
  57. #57
there is quite a fair bit taken off them, there is a big lip restriction point jsut before the butterfly that restrics the airflow, this is comletely boared back, there are also loads of casting marks around the other areas of the throttle body that are taken back and then the whole thing is smoothed and buffed up and few other little bits done. everyone that i have sold one to has been very happy with the results. its hard to show u what exactly we do but in laymans terms its like having a 2" drain pipe with a 1.5" pipe in the middle it will restrict airflow. here is a sorta pic that shows u the lip

  58. #58
very good diargram i understand fuly now. be a few weeks before i send you mine mate but will get it done.
  59. #59
slight alteration to that diagram that i will put up soon
  60. #60
Yea if you could mate, interested for the furio.

Just dont see it making much difference if its plastic as there isnt that much restriction.
  61. #61
    as requested

    http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s...rent=TBBBB.jpg
  62. #62
good pics spence, i tried showign that on the pics that i mad but it was hard and i did it in paint lol
  63. #63
Lol. I Just Had A Faf About On Some Drawing Software.
  64. #64
Sorry if i am being thick here, however can you just point out where exactly you are reducing the restriction.

Just all the completed port & polishes i have seen are for mk1 vts' etc.

  65. #65
the whlle of the rim would be knife edged, the spindle would be cut down and there are areas at the back and the the front that arnt visible from the piks that sre ground away and smoothed.
  66. #66
  67. #67
DAN-VTS could you stick those pics up in here for me that you took??
  68. #68
Thanx, stevenet15 you will be doing mine when i can send you it.

id be interested in one of these spencer..
  75. #75
hi everone im new so i dont realy know where to post but i need some help.My mate has got a polished vts rocker cover which he is selling but i dont want to buy it because i dont know if it will discolour under the heat as it is only polished not chrome plated.can someone please help me.many thanks.
  76. #76
yes mate, it will be fine. you just give it a polish every now and then with some metal polish like autosol and a little bit of elbow grease , it wont discolor with the heat.
  77. #77
ahh never really understood this before. Those photos and diagram make it alot easier thanks
  78. #78
hi i cnt seem to pm spence cammed, wont let me for sum reason, any chance you cud sort me out with the p+p throttle body jobie????
  79. #79
am going to take a look at my throttle body tmw to see if it can be done on a 1.1. Someone said that it could be plastic though
  80. #80
that dont matter matey thee plastic ones can be done. they just wont look shiney as fck as you cant polish them as such. you can still get then as good as the metal ones though. stick a pic of it up.
  81. #81

  83. #83
my prices are in my signature above, at the bottom of my messages/ posts. When i get a spare throttlebody, il post up in this thread-so keep a look out!
  84. #84
So what happened to that little sensor inside the TB? Has it been relocated somewhere else?
  85. #85
little sensor inside the TB? all sensors get put back on after iv finished doing what i do with the throttlebody. no sensors have to be relocated matey.
  86. #86
Take a look at the pictures DANVTS posted on the previous page. That little thingie inside has gone...
  87. #87
ahhh rite. i dont know why he has got it out but i assurre you all sensores are where they should be in the original places
  88. #88
Is that sensor to record the temperature of the air going in? If so, seems pretty important to me. I wonder what he's playing at...
  89. #89
Yes It Is To Record The Air Temp. He Probs Just Whipped It Out To Get A Better Pic Of It. The Car Wudnt Run Properly Without Is And He Has Fitted It As I Have His Standard Throttlebody!
  90. #90
I can send you my tb as the engine isnt in the car yet. Let me know if that any good to ya.
  91. #91
yer thats fine matey! send it to 40 mease close, measham, swadlincote, derbyshire,
    DE12 7NA.

MAKE SURE you stick your username on the package so i know its yours. my paypal address for the £25 payment is dannyndonna@tesco.net
  92. #92
If you look at the pics you will see i had the sensor in my standard tb, those pics were taken prior to me swapping everything over. The sensor is now in my ported tb ( and it was lovely to remove too )
  93. #93
Ok thanks mate. I'll send it when the post office decide to got to work. cheers
  94. #94
fitted mine today and can say it feels more responsive and abit louder but only took it up the road so might be better still when i go for a drive glad i bought it worth the money and all thanks to spencer_cammedvts cheers again mate and anyone thinking of getting one i would recommend
  95. #95
Hey spencer, ever thought about getting your work tested on the rollers for some conclusive evidence? If it works, it could make your sales go through the roof!
  96. #96
I think his results on chipwizards rollers running 708's and standard TB say it all mate...
  97. #97
bang on josh. cheers for that matey
  98. #98
where are u and how would i get them to u
  99. #99
post it off to me mate.
  100. #100
will be getting one soon! hard to fit?
  101. #101
2 minute job matey. 3 5mm allen key bolts
  102. #102
    Hi Spencer.
Is there some way for me to have this job done, without missing a TB for a long time? I'm in Denmark you see, so there will be some shipping time... Would you ship me a TB you've made, and i will ship you my old one afterwards when i have changed? Ofcourse i would allow a higher price - both giving there is some shipping cost involved, and the fact that you would be missing a TB for a week or to! But you don't have to worry about me not shipping you a TB again - You can have a copy of my passport or something if that makes you more comfortable!
You can PM or email me... larslaursen@besked.com
  103. #103
Oh and btw i have just done a rolling road on a Optima 2000 on my 16v with Cup intake kit and Supersprint magnum backbox, and it did 124hp flywheel and 150nm torque.
It's at my school they have a rolling road, and i'm allowed to use it all i want. So if you're prepared to see what your P&P can do on paper, i can do a test after mounting the TB. I am not far from ordering a set of 708's to...
I will supply the different data on the measurement (air temp, pressure etc.)!
  104. #104
i have one of these on me vts from stevenet but since having it onmy car a idle really funny the throttle seems to stick at 1850rpm til i warm her up propally then it will still rev high on idle til i hit the throttle and then it steadies downto normal, only had this problem since putting the p+p on can anyone help?? apart from that my vts feels alot lighter off her feet

did u check the idel control valve seal like i said as if its not sealing right the car will idle at 1500-2000 revs, also check that the butterfly is turning right back to the closed position by looking at it as u turn the end peice
  106. #106
what do you meen by checing the idle cotrol vavle seal?where is this located as i checked the conectors and stuff with no joy,let me know if you can stevenet
  107. #107
Maybe i can source a new TB if you have none at the moment, but its not easy in Denmark!
  108. #108
Wat do u think the gains wud b like on a standard furio? just with an induction kit say? a decent one tho like raceland or bmc!
  109. #109
If I had mine done would it require a remap?

  112. #112
i have had this down and i swear by it.

    Are you based in Measham?
When the time comes is it possibly to drive up for a while you wait style jobby perchance rather than posting it?
  114. #114
what sort of gains do you achieve from having this done ? eg better throttle response etc? thanks
  115. #115
were abouts are you based as im not going to be driving mine for a while so sending it to you would be fine and im liking the sound of it would do it myselfy but as youve done so many ill just go witht he experience.
  116. #116
Is there any conclusive back to back testing on a rolling road to show if there any gains from having this work done?

If so, I'd be interested yo.
  117. #117
no beacause noone has got round to doing it. i sent notorious_CAT one to do a back to back test with and he never posted anything up. hawever there was someone on here that did it with one of my mk2 vtr t/bs. his car was standard and got a 1.2 bhp average increase!

i cant find the post but your quite welcome to use the search function
  118. #118
mine got done, tbh i didnt feel any difference at all. BUT mine was not done to the same standard as what spencers are and it has become apparant that my car has never actually run right in the first place
  119. #119
to be fair for £26, its a fair bit of work.

might give more on an increase if the throttle body was on the small side of things to begin with!

    Trevor
