throttle body power gains

  1. #1
areet peeps, just wondering how much it would cost and what the power gains would be if my furio had throttle bodies? my mate says that the difference in power is great but that's on his vtr... the furio currently has a cat back exhuast system and a piper x induction kit, and although it is not on the car, i do have a de cat pipe that i got when i bought the peco system, which i might put on

    cheers

    Ermmm just buy a vts.

No point in wasting money on a furio!

Your looking at 2k plus for tb's!!

I swear more and more of these stupid threads are getting started each day

I wanna turbo my 1.4 i wanna throttle body my 1.4 etc

why not get a vts be cheaper and probably work out about the same.

    Cant afford insurance

Ok so you`l do those mods to your car instead, not declare them, thus making insurance invalid, and then when you smash into my car and i realise your insurance is invalid, i have to kick your fucking head in.

If youve got the money, why not buy a track car as a project? an old mk1 VTS, 205GTi, slag it out, have fun with it and dont risk getting points

My 1360 is on TB's, and getting 147 bhp at the flywheel. Cost so far is in the region on 5K for the engine.

The car is insured through Comp. Car Insurance.

These sort of questions bug me -

i cant afford a GTI so i cant afford to mod my 1.4.... simple answer is save some cash or dont do it!

Unfortunatly mate throttle bodies will cost as much if not more than your insurance would on a VTS. A VTR isnt as bad as its only group 7 IE Half...

If you wanted a power boost from your car, get yourself a VTR engine for nearly 1/3 the price and put that in when you get a yrs no claims....

Adrian Flux are dirt cheap when it comes to big mods.

But if you increase the power of your car and dont tell insurance your gonna be fuct if you crash into someone or jail time if you run someone over....

You will have to do what i did, and everyone else is doing and has done..... wait. Insurance on big power is just not possible until your nocking on 21 with a few yrs no claims. Get yourself a trailer and by my mk 3 astra off me, and then put a 2.0 lump in it and for under a grand you can have a track ready rocket.....

i dont think the insurance increase would be £2k and he would have an ecu, wiring and tb's that he could transfer across easily to a new car.

I'm not going to insult your choice of engine as one of our project cars is a 205 Rallye with a 1.4 engine. Lets just say it didnt have big power and it was faster than a lot of cars on the track overall though it lacked punch on the straights, but thats because we took an apraoch that engine power isnt everything

Realistically you will get about 10-15bhp from the tb's and a good chuck of torque in the midrange. Worth it....probably not but at least it will only cost a couple of hundred to transfer to a vtr/s when you can afford the car
