I know its the wrong way but i'm getting a garage to fit my suspension kit today and i want to make sure thay do it properly.

I understand the correct way but if they explain by splines i want to know what they are talking about so i can tell them they are wrong!

So how do you lower the car by splines, how does it work?!

    Think that makes sense!

    the right way

the wrong way involves knocking the whole rear arm off and then turning it at jsut one end a few splines and then forcing the arm back on on the other end. its a cowboy way of doign the job and will not give an accurate level each side. also doign it that way also normally causes the bearings to fail not long after as it normally damages the seals

hope this helps someone told me about this way it helped me

Cheers guys, the bloke said he was going to adjust it by splines....so i said that is the wrong way...he went into it and said it involves removing the torsion bars and using a dummy damper to set the height...sound right?

he dont need a dummy damper, jsut put a jack under the rear arm and raise the arm to the correct amount and then put the torsion bars back in. get the job done right it pays off in the long run

ppl might have a go at me 4 this but i lowerd my car using the splines way, i was changing the bearings anyway as thy had lots of play in (deffinatly MOT FAIL) so it was alrady stripped. seems fine tho both the same hight and rides spot on no probs!
