smoothing interior parts

hey guys im thinking about doing a few new bits to my car and i was gonna start by smoothing the centre console (gear stick surround) i just wondered what you guys who have done it would recomend using. i know that i will need some sort of filler to fill the grooves in the plastic but will i need to need to prime the piece first to make the filler stick.

any help would be wicked, and examples of other peoples would be cool

I just sanded down and used filler primer, not as nice as high build primer, but it still got most of it out, looks nice in a puke colour tho!

all i did was use sme ruff sand paper and then used fine wet a dry and then primed it, and then sprayed it and looks proper smart , i wouldnt personaly use body filler as you can just use sandpaper
