vtr, zetec s

    I want my vtr(2002) to keep up with a standard zetec s, but what sort of mods would be needed to do this, at the moment ive got planned bmc enclosed induction kit and possibly a new exaust system, where will this put me vs the zetec, anyone have any suggestions or tips, cheers

    vtrs are faster then zetecs as standard only slightly though

    if u can beat 1 yours is fucked or cant drive or the zetec is moded

    if you want to hammer 1 buy a faster car

    Yeah thats the thing mine will beat it till it gets into about 4th gear then it will cruise past me

    my mate has a 1.7 pumabuild conversion on his zetecS and pisses all over me when were rolling already but ive never gone toe to toe off the line with him yet so am holding hope that i can get closer to him

    Yeh they are 16V and they will edge out after 60mph as they have better top end speed then a saxo vtr, but on the twisties and stop,starts the lose a car length or 2.

    zs are pretty good on corners, i drove one about and was impressed by it on the corners

    my vtr is still quicker off the start tho

    av seen a race over about 200m from a standing start as 2 ov my mate have got the 2 cars in question, it could not have been closer, if anything the zetec was a whisker ahead but the vtr was a mk1 90 bhp, both had air filters and zorsts.

    got this from a fiesta club site. the standard zetec-s performance is, 0-62 in 10.2 sec.top speed is 114. bhp is 103 @ 6000 rpm. max torque is 145nm @ 4000 rpm. kerb weight is 976 kgs. 31 to 62 mph is 11.4 seconds in 4th gear. ins group 8. hope this helps.

    the vtr and zetec s are too close to call but the zetec has a bigger top end because of it 16v engine. I had trouble keeping up with a zetec s off the start cos i have 17s on..ooops lol!

    right ive had a zetec s and vtr. and i played with vtr's in the zetec s
    without a doubt the zetec s is quicker. my borther has got a mk2 vtr and yes his keeps up with mine to 60 but mine walks all over his after then.

    ive now got a vts and it pisses all over both hehe.

    when ive raced zetec s` they are in 3rd as am just getting up to power in 2nd, usually pass em bout 45 50 ish if i start from behind 1, ford have to change gear realy early hence there slow 0 - 60.

    thought of a quickshifter mate, that will get you through the gears faster, manifold and exhaust would be a good start for performance modifications, have you got a heavy ICE install or anything that might be making the car a bit heavier???

    i have a silver top 90bhp with a 4-2-1 gmc fanimold, powerflow cat back exhaust with one long centre section and two whopping great 4" jap cans on the rear. im still running stock air filter and mine will piss all over a 98bhp saxo. for some reason it seems to pull like a f**ker. the best sort of driving is keep the revs up high. if you go low down in the rev range then you will run into all sorts of trouble. oh and z's are 16v 101 bhp 0-60 10.2 or something like that and as long as you drive the car right you can easily beat them all the way up to silly speeds, its all about the gear changes and foot control

    My westy, which stripped to the bone, 4-2-1, sports cat and then from the cat back a stainless system will play with one until i hit 3rd an 4th then they edge away, i wasn't impressed with them tbh..

    zetec engines are fucking wank they cant breath for shit, first thing i would do is fucking put huge vavles on em since the vavle diamter is less than a fucking 10p coin, then port the fuck out of the head.

    zetecs arnt what everyone thinks there like i reckon

    zetec s's are slow dude you should piss one in your vtr. a few mates have vtr's and have raced zetec 's before and they just cant keep up.

    i raced one before in my vts and by the time i got to about 45mph he was about 4 car lengths behind

    Ive had 3-4 vtr's try to race me and ive pulled away from every one of them

    iv been in a few zetec s and driven 1 or 2 and some felt slow and shit and others have been really pokey id say better then vtr
