Roll Cage...

   Hi
   
   I'm after a full cage for my VTS and i have been looking at the OMP and SPARCO 6 point bolt in ones. Does anyone else have these and could they tell me how much of the interior needs to be modified if any? Or possibly suggest any alternatives?

   Ah i see you said FULL cage. I have a Ten Point OMP old style. And have nothing in my car. Had to take out carpet, roof lining, everything when i fitted mine. But if youve got a cage, you aint really gunna be wanting anything but a dash anyway. This is for a track car? Oh yer the new cages penetrate the dash as well.
   
   Oh and i suggest a show cage unless its a track car. As the car will not really be suitable for road use. Getting in and out, suspension stiffness, etc.

   ive got a 10 point omp cage in my everyday car (door bars too!) and i reckon it would be fine aslong as the rear seats/trim were removed.

   Safety Devices fitted in mine, and not really that practical for everday use, but it doesn't go through the dash.

   I've got a Safety devices 16 point cage. Not fitted yet but the headlining, carpet, door trims etc all have to be removed to get it in! The door bars are removalble with a socket set so if they are staying in (which they will) it's not the most practical.
   
   The OMP 6 point looks as though it will go in with the roof lining and trims in place, but if you want to keep the carpet it will need to be cut to bolt the cage the the floorpan

   Thanks for all that, i need an approved cage not a show cage as it will be for track use and tarmac rallying but some road use too, ideally i want a 6 point bolt in with the minimal amount of alterations? I have no trim or seats in the back at all, just concerned about door cards and dash.

   Umm well the new OMP go through dash. So i would say either a custom cages, or Safety Devices...I think theres dont go thorugh the dash. Not sure about Sparco or anyone else really. But the ones that penetrate the dash arent that bad, quite easy to do really, jsut gotta cut some holes out for the cage.

   Would a show cage offer any protection at all, in a crash or would they be more likely to kill you?

    OMP do a 4 point Road Cage with a cross bar and it has little door bars. You dont have to remove anything i dont think. This is the cage I will be getting.

    definately more likely to kill you as there is no testing to find out how they would deform in the event of an accident.
    
    I would recommend a cage designed by a reputable manufacturer like custom cages or safety devices.. If you want just get the rear of the cage and door hoops.. leave out the door bars so you still have easy access.
    
    Not sure how many points my cage is now. The original safety devices one has been added to somewhat.

    dont think theres enough in there like. seriously is that really worth it as your adding alot more weight inside

    The extra tubing is mainly linking up the rear subframe and anything thats non-structural is a slightly thinner tubing. Plus I've saved weight by chopping out the floor and the bodywork is carbon kevlar
    
    Won't weight any more than 850kgs when finished so not so heavy. Should shift with 255 bhp too

    whats the point of a show cage?? surely its just a waste of money
